Subject: AHA, National Homebrew Competition, 1st Round -- Madison, WI
Hello Homebrew Fans!
Tony Jacques (tonyj.ten(a)gmail.com) and I (madsymo(a)aol.com) are happy to
announce that the AHA, National Homebrew Competition, 1st Round will once
again take place in Madison, WI! This year's judging is scheduled for
Saturday, April 9 (although some judging may take place in the days leading
up to and following April 9.) Entries will be shipped to the House of Brews
in Madison and judging will take place at Vintage Brewing Company, also in
Madison.
We are looking for entries, judges and stewards.
Details on entering the contest are available at:
http://www.homebrewersassociation.org/pages/competitions/national-homebrew-c
ompetition
Please pay very strict attention to the time-lines. Last year we were fully
booked with our allotment of 750 beers before the end of the entry period.
We expect even more pressure this year since brewers from anywhere
(including Chicago and Northern Illinois) are welcome at our site.
Judges: Contact Tony Jacques (tonyj.ten(a)gmail.com) to reserve your spot.
Please provide your BJCP number and current rank.
Stewards: Contact Greg Younkin (greg.younkin(a)wisconsin.gov) to reserve your
spot. Please provide any relevant experience (have you stewarded at other
competitions?)
Hand delivered (but pre-registered!!!) entries will be accepted at House of
Brews on Saturday, March 26 -- ONLY. Please contact me or Tony to arrange
your delivery.
Unpacking, data entry and sorting will take place at House of Brews on
Saturday, April 2. If you are available to help, please contact me, Tony or
Greg.
Judging will take place at Vintage Brewing Company on Saturday, April 9
starting at 8am for a breakfast nosh and will include a catered lunch for
all volunteers. We will need judges and stewards (as well as other
assistance) to make the day run as smoothly as possible.
Following the judging, we have arranged to have access to the Vintage
Brewing Company bus, with a driver, for a "cycle" of breweries and beer
bars. The details will follow (as soon as we know what we are doing ;-) If
you have any particular recommendations, please forward them to me.
We look forward to your support and involvement with this wonderful event.
Cheers,
Keith
