Hello Everyone!
The Minnesota State Fair Homebrew Competition has been growing and it's now BIG. Not
quite as big as Mash Out, but BIG. I know we're all waiting anxiously for BOS resutls
this Saturday. Our BOS event is held at the CA/Education outdoor stage this Saturday from
10am - 2pm. Last Friday and Saturday, was our initial rounds of judging and it went very
well overall. We had entries from as far north as Duluth and Virginia and as far south as
Faribault and Rochester. We had 48 Minnesota cities represented overall. Here are some
other very interesting statistics (Thanks, Al):
288 Beers entered total
94 brewers
48 Minnesota Cities represented
Mpls+St.Paul brewers=34
Outside Metro brewers=60
Avg 3.06 entries per brewer
Most entries per brewer: 18
Judges and volunteers: 44
Judging Sessions: 6
Flights=34
Judging Man-Hours: 255
Thanks everyone who participated for the Minnesota State Fair Homebrew Competition. Also,
I would like to thank all the judges, stewards and volunteers. It wouldn't be much of
a competition with all of you. Thanks to everyone.
Furthermore, and last but least, I would personally like to thank all of committee members
as well. Everyone did an excellent job. Big thanks to the following:
Al Boyce, Database and Head Judge
Janis Sines, Office Chair
Greg Van De Mark, Contest Chair
Cory Dallas, Hospitality Chair
Michael Corrigan, Publicity Chair
Chris Smith, Head Steward
Dan Prokosch, Cellarmaster (who also lugged his freezer to site)
Also, those of you who placed in the competition, your name, the name of the entry, and
your city will be on display at the Creative Activities Building for all twelve day of the
State Fair so tell and of your friends and family. (It's in back and left hand side.)
The BOS winner will be added after this Saturday's judging. (REMEMBER- all
scoresheets and metals will be mailed AFTER the State Fair is over.)
Again thank you all.
Regards,
Sean Hewitt
