Has anyone ever used the water from the Frederick Miller spring? It is an artesian well in Eden Prairie. I saw it on Kare11 last night. I am just wondering to know the quality of the water for brewing at home. My water at home is so hard, I always need to add distilled to soften it up Thanks Erik Nelson

I don't know the analysis of the water but I've used water from this source exclusively over the past 2-3 years. I'd love to see the results if a test is ever performed on it... at least pH wise.. I have a simple analysis using an aquarium test kit from 3 weeks ago and found it to be the same as Chaska tap water but I would really like to see a more detailed analysis of the mineral content. pH - 8.0 GH (General Hardness) - 340mg/L KH (Calcium Hardness) - 260 mg/L That's pretty hard. I have cut it with RO water for brewing and had good results. It is probably too hard and carbonate straight to use for anything other than stouts and porters.
