I would recommend Hop Leaf. I witnessed the touted
Organoleptic Hop Transduser in action there, poured
from a tap by the owner of Dogfish Head himself,
before I had ever heard or read about such a thing.
Hop leaf has an excellent selection of belgians, and a
great menu to boot. The ambiance is nothing to sneeze
at either. I would highly recommend a stop in there.
It is also on Clark if I remember right, north of
Chitown on the red line. I'm not positive of the
exact address, however.

In the area of NORTH MICHIGAN AVE @ CHICAGO RIVER:
1. ROCK BOTTOM, State @ Grand. Best in the whole
chain, and a leading
brewpub whether part of a chain or not. A must
visit, and close by. (In
fact, I'm headed there as soon as I turn off my
computer, right now!)
Very nice rooftop beer garden.
2. O'CALAHAN'S BAR, Hubbard Street just west of
State. Excellent beer
selection, in a definite "see and be seen" place.
Best-looking bar
patrons in the area, if ya' know what I mean.
3. BILLY GOAT TAVERN, 430 N Michigan, in basement.
Famous subterranian
dive inspired the "cheesborger, cheesborger, no
Pepsi - Coke" routine on
Saturday Night Live. Beer is Berghoff - not a top
beer, but you're going
here for the atmosphere and the good cheap
cheeseborgers.
4. GOVNOR'S PUB, 207 North State St. just south of
the river. City
location of suburban brewpub. Govnor's Pale Ales are
real standouts.
5. ANDY'S JAZZ CLUB - 11 E Hubbard @ State - OK beer
selection, but the
real attraction is live jazz most nights.
6. HYATT REGENCY HOTEL, Wacker Drive, actually has a
very impressive
beer selection in its atrium bar, but beware of Big
Hotel Prices.
7. NAVY PIER - several bars here have an OK beer
selection, albeit
expensive. You are coming out ot the lakefront for
the Air and Water
Show, aren't you? Or are you just going to sit there
and wonder why all
those odd looking airplanes are flying so low over
Downtown Chicago.
..and just a little farther away...
CLARK STREET ALE HOUSE, 742 North Clark @ Chicago
Ave. One of the best
American micro brew selections anywhere, and either
a healthy 8 block
walk or a very inexpensive cab ride away from
Michigan @ the river.
..even farhter away..
Others have posted Goose Island, Piece, Map Room.
The above places I am
listing are closer.

Will be in the N.

Any recommendation on which Goose Island brew pub
is better for a
dinner/evening visit?
Are there any better places for beer that are easy
to get to in that area?
I know plenty of alternatives for restaurants if
there are no highly
recommended brew pubs.
Thanks, all!
