Summit Brewing Company debuts new logo, rebranding
ST. PAUL, Minn. – (Feb. 21, 2013) – Summit drinkers will begin to see a new logo and look
for the brand beginning this April. The rebranding will launch April 1 during Minnesota
Twins Opening Day at the newly redesigned Summit Townball Tavern and April 15 with the
release of Union Series: Meridian Session Ale.
“We redesigned our original logo in 1999 after Summit’s new brewery opened, and with the
expansion of the brewery 14 years later, we felt it was again time to update our look,”
said Mark Stutrud, Summit’s founder. “Innovation is part of our DNA and we think this
change signals that commitment while also honoring the community that built this company.”
Summit is partnering with local branding and design firm Duffy & Partners for the
redesign of the brand, debuting with the new logo. The new look is an evolution of
Summit’s past two logos and carries forward the diamond shape that has been the hallmark
of Summit’s brand since its start in 1986. Summit Avenue, the vein running through the
heart of St. Paul, is seen in the interpretation of the street sign. The new logo also
honors the high quality, raw ingredients at the center of Summit’s brewing tradition.
“We’re very excited to debut our new look at the Summit Townball Tavern during the Twins
home opener,” added Stutrud. “Here at Summit, we’re big fans of the hometown team and what
they mean to Minnesota. With this new tavern we can continue to deepen that relationship
with our community.”
Meridian Session Ale, a beer in the new Union Series released April 15, will be the first
beer to feature the redesigned bottle and packaging. The Union Series will focus on new
raw materials and ingredients appearing on the brewing scene. Availability of these
ingredients will dictate the schedule of each new Union Series beer. Additional
information on Meridian Session Ale will be released late-March.
The rebranding will rollout throughout 2013 and 2014 as Summit continues its commitment to
sustainability by using up the bottles and packaging that currently exist with the past
design. For additional updates, please visit
