OK Folks, I'm on the mission and will keep everyone posted. I will pursue
several avenues in parallel. One or more will pan out.
From what I hear, the White House beer travels with the
Prez.
To Mike'e earlier point about it being illegal to shar home brews with
anyone outside one's own home and/or someone other than family, here a
thought - We can all board Air Force One with the Prez and share our home
brews with him outside on Minnesota air space. How's that for thumbing our
noses at the stupidity of the "law"?

Hi Mike,
Let's see
~ I was born in Kenya and Obama has a Kenyan heritage. I wonder if that
counts as "family"
~ Furthermore, it is said (proven??) that we are all related in that our
genes are substantially (not exactly) identical. Now, that would certainly
qualify as a family member.
~ We could enlighten him about the ridiculous law and use that as the
reason for inviting him to my house [after a major clean up that will take
at least 2 weeks ;-) Maybe I can ask him to send an advance cleaning crew
from the White House - or better yet have the Secret Service's advance team
do the cleaning while they "sweep" the place.]
~ etc.
~ etc.
~ Hey, if he gets busted for breaking the law, he can issue a pardon for
himself as one of the many pardons the president issues around Xmas.
Yes ~ Mormons are not allowed to drink alcohol. The invitation to Romney
can say he is permitted to send a representative (Ryan?) or Romney can
attend for tasting some root "Beer"
Contacting the parties ~ I am on it!!!!!

Dipak,
You have an interesting idea here but we need to remember that it is
considered unlawful to share your homebrew with anyone outside of your
family or home.
Although that's a law that does not seem to garner much attention these
days, I would consider the ramifications of having the President break a
law in Minnesota.
One on hand, it could be a harmless gesture. On the other hand, if he
accepted and did try our brew, his actions should be considered law
breaking, which would then
put a focus on the ridiculousness of that law and, perhaps persuade a
change.
Can you contact either parties representatives and offer the opportunity to
them, or do Mormons not drink beer?
If not, then just the Presidents representatives should be contacted.
We would also need to decide who's beer we would offer.
We could also just send some to the White House and get his opinion.
Just a few thoughts.
Thanks,
Michael

I am certain Obama will be making at least one pit stop in the Cities
before the election.
I propose we send him an invitation to visit with us for tasting some of
our brews (and we in turn will get to taste the White House brews that
travel with him). Wonder if other brew clubs have extended such an
invitation. Let's be the first! Or, let's not be the only one that didn't
extend an invitation.
Do we, as a club, need to vote on this proposal? If so, please consider
this as a motion put forth by me. We need someone to second the motion and
then open up discussion prior to casting our ballots.
So, do I hear a second??
