Just a quick thank you for attending the "MHBA social meeting" last Friday.
Dawn and I had a great time and we hope you did too. The great turnout surprised her a
wee bit but I did tell her we were having a meeting.
I forgot to actually call the meeting to order and discuss club related news. I realize
that the news department has been a bit slim lately and take responsibility.
The Boiler is scheduled to make an appearance in the very near future. David and Gloria
are working together to get the publication to the press.
Thanks to active club members dues and the tenacious efforts of Jeff Cotton and Al Boyce,
MHBA Club funds have recovered to the point we can start utilizing the CSPS hall for
future club meetings. It also appears we can get back on track and purchase our next
"big batch" of club glasses.
Meetings for the rest of the year are a bit tentative but here is what I am planning.
What would you, as an active club member, like your club to do?
September Barley Johns (sunset and outside)
October Summit
November Hops- EP (in memory of the Water Tower Patio)
December CSPS (Christmas extravaganza)
January Town Hall
February CSPS (officer election)
One final and personal note. The MHBA is a unique club with a large variety of members.
Many members socialize and brew excellent beer. Some members regularly share a wealth of
knowledge via the internet. Some members are great organizers of events. The club has a
large group of can-do members and we are thankful for their accomplishments and
contributions.
I hope this years meetings have been enjoyable. I truly look forward to participating
with the MHBA for the remainder of the year and look forward to continuing to assist with
a few projects like the "brew-a-rama," campouts, and all grain demonstrations.
Personally and professionally, my job and list of home projects has become very demanding.
I have been challenged to allocate adequate time resources to club activities while
maintaining a decent supply of my favorite liquid refreshment. Anything you can suggest
or help with is appreciated.
So there are some rambling from the heart. I hope this message reaches you in good health
and that it is late enough in the day to have a cool beverage in hand. Happy brewing.
Sincerely,
Rick Oftel
