Lucky Friday is tomorrow. Here are some FAQ's.
How do I get there? Good question. Drive down 169 towards Mankato.
After you cross the Blue Earth River and proceed down a short incline,
turn right at Hawley Street (north). Turn left on Main Street (soon to
be Olive) and follow Main Olive to the campground.
When do I show up? Slightly after you arrive but hopefully in the
early afternoon.
What should I bring? Normal camping equipment, bug avoidance stuff,
money, beer, favorite chair, beer glass, and a smile.
What do we do after we get setup? On Friday evening around 5:15, we
levitate to Bandana Brewing and visit Dave Berg's new location.
Likely, there will be some beer, food, a tour, and then return to the
campground.
What does Dave have on Tap? Gold, Red, Brown, Pale, and the first
brewer's special: Kolsch
What if I arrive late? If you RSVP'ed we will save you a site. We
hope to meet you at Bandana 302 N Plainview Ave. From hwy 22, turn
right (SW) at Madison, left at Madison, go to Victory and turn left
What's the Saturday morning event about and how can I get up so early?
When was the last time you heard the tune Revile, played by a
professional bugler? Now imagine an armature using a broken bugle.
Strong coffee anyone? Dave Berg has set up a tour of Mid-America and
this company supplies a bunch of stuff to the commercial brewing
community. Dave recommends the tour and I believe you will be pleased
and slightly awed by the opportunity.
Mid America is in Kasota which is just a few miles north of Mankato.
What if I can't make it until Saturday around 1:00? If you drive down
on Saturday, meet us in New Ulm at the Schells Brewery.
What else are you going to do? Dave Cox has an interesting back-roads
route between New Ulm and Mankato and it conveniently passes by Ted's
brothers winery. If anyone is interesting in another tour, this may be
a nice stopping off location.
Is there more? Sure, when we roll up the events, we pack em in.
Saturday evening we will have a small BBQ back at the campground. We do
have a webber kettle (yep, one of the Cocako storm survivors) and will
be heating it up later in the afternoon. We will likely do some Chicken
or Burgers, or whatever you pick up from the store and will have the BBQ
equipment and charcoal.
Wow, this sounds like a great week-end. What else can I do?
Show up, thank the hosts and tour guides, provide them with beer, and
have a great time.
Hope to see you this week-end. Swally is bringing his super jockey
box
cooler.
