Summit Brewing Company To Be Showcased At 2012 SAVORSM:
An American Craft Beer & Food Experience
ST. PAUL, Minn. – May 21, 2012 – As food and drink enthusiasts descend upon the nation’s
capital on June 8 and 9, Summit Brewing Company will be among the 74 small and independent
craft
brewers<http://www.craftbeer.com/pages/stories/why-craft-beer/show?title…
participating at
SAVOR<http://www.savorcraftbeer.com/>SM: An American Craft Beer
& Food Experience in Washington, D.C.
Presented by the Brewers Association, SAVOR is the premier beer and food pairing event in
the U.S. In its fifth year running, SAVOR provides guests the chance to sample craft beers
from eight geographic regions across the country. To complement the craft beers, attendees
will enjoy a reception-style sampling of delicious sweet and savory appetizers from a menu
designed by Brewers Association culinary consultant Adam Dulye,Chef/Owner of The Monk’s
Kettle<http://monkskettle.com/> and The Abbot’s
Cellar<http://www.abbotscellar.com/> in San Francisco, and a select group of chefs
specializing in beer and food pairings.
“We’re excited to be among the many luminaries of the craft beer industry—brewery owners,
brewers and representatives – at this year’s SAVOR event. It’s a great opportunity for us
to show beer aficionados what the Minnesota craft beer scene has to offer,” said Mark
Stutrud, founder of Summit Brewing Company.
“As the benchmark event for craft beer and food lovers, SAVOR is a unique opportunity to
try great food paired with beers from small producers that ordinarily only distribute
locally,” says Julia Herz, Craft Beer Program Director, Brewers Association. “In addition
to meeting the principals behind the breweries, attendees have an opportunity to learn
about a vast array of craft beer topics courtesy of SAVOR’s educational presentations.
It’s a truly coveted event by beer lovers.”
Craft brewers continue to see increased sales and growing market share, along with praise
for their small-batch beers, despite the fact that overall beer industry sales have
declined.
During SAVOR, Summit will be serving beers Summer Ale paired with seared scallop, toasted
cauliflower and fennel pollen, and Sága IPA paired with burrata on toast, argula pesto and
lemon zest.
