Thanks to everyone who came over to help pick a Wheat Beer to represent the MhBA in the AHA Club-Only competition this month. Jesse and Sarah Stremchka, Jonathan Crist, Steve Piatz, John Longballa, Sean Hewitt, Doug (sorry Doug, forgot your last name) and I tried 5 homebrewed Bavarian Weizens and 4 Weizenbocks, after calibrating on Hacker Pschorr, Paulaner, and a couple other commercial weizens, and an Aventinus Weizenbock. It was a close decision, and after much deliberation my Bavarian Weizen was picked to represent the club. Thanks to Jesse, Steve, Thomas Eibner (and me!) for entering beers! Next AHA Club-Only is BJCP Category 23 (1999 guidelines) SMOKE Beers. The competition will be in October, and we will pick a beer to represent our club at my place on Tues, Sept 21.
