After reading Fred's article about chocolate and beer and identifying self as a
chocolate deprived individual, I thought of a similar instance that occurred at a BJCP
training class.
The beers were heavy, malty, and flavorful. We had more beer than students and needed a
way to better appreciate other usages of beer. All of a sudden someone mentioned ice
cream and by an amazing coincidence, we had a half'er in the freezer.
People were adding imperial stout, raspberry stout, framboise and a host of other
interesting barley based beverages to dishes of ice cream. We all left the training with
a smile. Haven't tried it since but there are a series of beer beverages that mix
very nicely and compliment ice cream. My personal favorite is an Imperial Stout with
chocolate ice cream.
