Subject: Festin" at Hestons
Official Notice for Spring 2005
Festin' at Heston's
It's time once again for the late winter/early spring bash at
Heston's Lodge on Gunflint Lake. As the luck of the Irish would have
it,
the festivities begin on March 17th with Pub Night. In keeping with the
spirit of the day, we will be serving food that one might find in an
Irish
Pub. One stipulation, from Greg, is NO GREEN BEER. (sorry for shouting
there......)
It was suggested that we just keep up that same theme throughout
the
whole weekend, such that we have a stout tasting, and more Irish food.
Seems that my non-Irish better half would prefer that we have no theme
at
all for the potluck on Saturday night, other than Good Food. To that
end,
feel free to bring whatever tasty dish that you might like, be it Irish
or
otherwise. We always end up with a terrific spread, no matter what. As
for
the stout tasting, Everyone, start your burners---let's see what kinds
we
can come up with. Barb has plans for one called "Raisins in the
Oatmeal",
reminiscent of those many breakfasts of her early days. Moses and
Jethro
would delight in knowing that we all are partaking of one of their
favorite
grains.
Please give us a call or an email here at the lodge to confirm
the
dates that you are coming, both for those who have been here before, and
for
anyone interested in finding out if space is available. Our phone
number is
800-338-7230. You could email if you prefer, and that address is
beer(a)hestons.com.
Because we are sometimes known as Planet Heston's, we do have a
couple of unusual requests that we would like to post here. On Sunday,
we
have three people in need of rides to Grand Marais (one) and Duluth
(two).
If you have room in your car for "extra baggage" on Sunday, we would be
much
obliged. And we promise not to be rowdy! (To note: Barb needs a ride
to
Grand Marais, to meet and drive her sister Nancy and family up the
Gunflint
Trail. Greg and Robert are in need of a ride to Duluth for a larger
adventure that involves a bus ride, a train ride and a truck ride.
Inquire
for more details. Thanks!)
We really look forward to seeing you all in a month. The crows
will
be back, and we will be ready to chase away winter and usher in spring.
The
snow will likely still be with us for those who enjoy snow sports. For
the
rest of us, we can always come up with other things....darts, bus rides,
etc. Get ready for some serious Festin'!!
