For those of you that shop at Costco, the stores in Illinois and several other states (not
Wisconsin, unfortunately), they have recently introduced a package called "Brews
Around the World." I've seen a lot of packages like this that consist of
leftover breakage and out of code beer, but this one was a collaborative effort between
Shelton Brothers and Noble Union and actually contains a lot of good beer that can't
be found anywhere else or in any other format in the US market. The product is all very
fresh and was brought in specially for Costco.
The pack contains one bottle each of the following:
Germany
EKU Pils
Canada
McAuslan St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout (after a long absence from the US)
The Netherlands
Jopen Adriaan (a 15th century gruitbier brewed from a recipe in the Haarlem city archives)
England
Camerons Strongarm (was served on cask at RAF 2003 - coming soon in 6-packs and kegs)
Scorpion Lager
Scotland
Inveralmond Ossian's Ale (last year's Champion Beer of Scotland)
France
Jenlain Blonde
Belgium
Sterkens Blonde
Sterkens Dubbel
Ireland
Kinsale
I believe they're retailing for around $14.99, which is a pretty good deal
considering that several of these would sell for $2 or $3 a bottle by themselves.
We're pretty happy with what we were able to put together in terms of both variety
and quality, especially given the price constraints within which we had to work.
If anyone has a chance to pick one up and has any thoughts are comments, please let me
know.
Best regards,
Ron
