A couple of notes here.
First: Sankey kegs run about $200, so PLEASE don't steal them.
If you can find a leaker that's been scrapped by a brewer/owner (not somebody
jonesing for a fix) - that's a different story. BUT
Second: SS is a lousy conductor - Aluminum works much better in a direct fired system.
No hot spots, no scorching, even doing a decoction.
Third: Commercial breweries use SS in part because it can survive the harsh chemicals
used for cleaning. (CIP)
You shouldn't use those either, IMNSHO.
Off Peak Brewer Carl Eidbo has (had) an all electric brewery and it works fine for Carl -
but he's a
physicist. A COTS water heater would make a better hot liq tank and thos are affordable.
Cheers,
Jim

Hi Scott,
I highly recommend Hans Early-Nelson, whose business is called ?Primitive Precision
Metalcraft? in Minneapolis. He does a lot of art metal, but he used to work doing
sanitary welding and did a beautiful job on all of the tri-clover fittings on my 30 gal
electric system. He welded all of the fittings from the inside and they have a
mirror-like finish. He was quite economical as well. I will certainly go back to him
for my next welding project.
Here is his contact info:

Does anyone have any references for welders in the
twin cities area? Preferably someone who has welded keggles before.
I am thinking about switching from propane to electric this spring and am weighing the
pros and cons of having someone weld the fittings in for my elements vs. going with a
silver solder approach.
Thanks!
