Subject: Results For the 2009 Governing Committee Election Are In

Congratulations go to Denny Conn, Curt Stock and Gordon Strong who all won re-election to the AHA Governing Committee (GC). All three have been active participants as Governing Committee members and each brings to the table their varied and strong backgrounds.

Along with the support and effort these three provide the AHA GC, they also continue to be active homebrewer activists in their local clubs and nationally in a number of ways. Denny continues to be an active participant on forums nationally and continues to evangelize on cheap and easy all grain brewing methods. Gordon continues to provide tremendous support to the BJCP program, and Kurt continues to be a major mead advocate, as well as being the MidWest Regional National Homebrew Competition Organizer for several years. Each has many more contributions and accomplishments, but their efforts on the GC are extremely valuable.

All three are bright, active, decent folks that personify homebrewers. Their willingness to share their ideas, time, knowledge and passion for homebrewing is something I love and share with just about every homebrewer I know and meet.

And while Denny, Curt and Gordon have won the opportunity to continue to represent and assist the AHA, I wanted to take a minute and thank Michael Fairbrother, Luann Fitzpatrick and Janna Mestan each for throwing their hat into the ring. I have rarely seen such an over-qualified group of people compete for the GC, and I truly believe any of these fine candidates could contribute to the betterment of the AHA.

With three incumbents vying for only three available seats, this was a tough year to run for a GC slot. In 2010 there will be five positions available and in 2011 another half dozen. I encourage Michael, Luann, Janna and anyone else who would like to consider running for a Governing Committee position to consider doing so. A call for candidates will go out late this year and this will be your opportunity to represent and assist the AHA as a Governing Committee member!

Cheers!

Chairman - AHA GC
