This is what fermentation is for. It sanitizes better than any other
possible process, such as pasteurization. This is why you are advised
NOT to drink raw cider which has not been either fermented or
pasteurized. A number of people died from that in Connecticuit a few
years back. Fermentation would have saved their lives.

I'm not so worried about -- it's sterile. Stinky pants is another issue.
Now I know the ground probably has a ton of deer feces on it, and for years we only
grabbed windfalls, but human doo doo should be looked upon a little more carefully in
non-pasteurized cider production.
