BELGIAN AND FRENCH ALES
The MhBA will choose it's champion to
represent us in the first AHA Club-Only Competition of the 2005-2006 season
next Tuesday, Aug 2 at my place.

The category is "Belgian/French
Ales" - BJCP Category #16. This includes the following styles:
16A. Witbier
16B. Belgian Pale Ale
16C. Saison
16D. Biere de Garde
16E. Belgian Specialty Ale
If you have one of these beers, please
bring it over to my place, and we'll taste them all and pick the best one
to send on to compete with all the other club champions for the style on
August 21st. If you can't come for the tasting but you'd like us
to consider your beer just the same, arrange to drop off one bottle at
my place before 7pm on Aug 2. If your beer is chosen, you
will need to send 2 more bottles off to the National competition in Boulder,
CO.
Let me know if you've got one, so we
can get some idea of how many we'll be judging!

EUROPEAN AMBER LAGERS
The NEXT style in the AHA Club-Only
competition is European Amber Lagers, BJCP Category #3. This includes
the following styles:
3A. Vienna Lager
3B. Oktoberfest/Märzen
We will choose our champion for this
style on Tuesday, Sept 27. This is a LAGER, so it will take some
time - start brewing NOW!
BALTIC PORTER - BJCP 12C
We will choose our champion for this
Club-Only style on Oct 11. This is a BIG one! Start brewing
early!
BELGIAN STRONG ALES - BJCP cat 18
We will choose our champion for this
style sometime in January.
