Hi Club Members,
You guys are awesome!! Bob is enjoying his beer-quet at Bethesda Rehab Hospital, 559
Capitol Blvd, St Paul Room 440. The Hospital is 1 block N of the Capitol. Bob's
day is full of OT, PT and Speech therapies, which leave him wiped out. Signs of
depression have popped up ( of course ) and I think he is ready for short visits (3-5
minutes). As much positive encouragement as you can give and if you have any stories of
stroke recovery from family or friends. please share them with Bob. He is unable to
"voice" , but I know he understands most everything that is said. His responses
may not always be appropriate, but we are working on that in Speech therapy. He needs
visuals to help him understand and we are working on retraining the brain. It will be a
long, frustrating, exhausting process for Bob, but I know he is capable of the challenge!
He will definitely recognize all of you, but you may need to remind him you are from the
beer club. His ears perk up anytime he hears me talking of homebrewing to the staff at
the hospital. Please ask only questions he can respond to with a yes/no shake of the
head. The hospital asks that we keep visits to evenings and Sundays (no therapy). I am
so overwhelmed by your caring, concern and offers of help. Thank you seems extremely
inadequate. I am grateful for each and everyone of you praying for Bob.

Here is a link to some photos of the "beer-quet" our beer clubs put
together for Bob Cromer.

I delivered it to Bob on Tuesday afternoon. He was sitting up in a chair
when I arrived, the first time he has been able to do that since his
stroke. He is still unable to speak, and still paralyzed on his right
hand, but he gave me a firm left hand handshake when he saw me. Bob is
moving to Bethesda Rehab Center today, at 559 Capitol Blvd, St. Paul, MN
55103 (phone 651-232-2000). Rene said she would let us know when Bob was
up to receiving visitors. In the meantime, cards are still appreciated!
Rene said that there was some beer Bob had brewed that will need
racking/bottling soon - I told her to say the word and they would have any
number of volunteers to help.
