Greeting from Kerry K (aka Lebowski). Rick, you
inspired me to announce some news that I have been
holding tight to.
Kerry and Molly (including Space Ghost, and Jacoby)
are packing up and moving East to NY (or NJ?) at the
end of the month. Molly is pulling up her TC roots to
adventure to the big Apple to get her career rolling,
and Kerry is leaving his biotech tendencies to join
the corporate world at Wyeth in Pearl River, NY.
Fermentation will be a big part of Kerry's day-day
efforts to produce small molecules of interest
(probably highly toxic!) from terrestrial and marine
microorganisms. He plans to find time to continue the
kitchen variety (somewhat toxic at large doses)
fermentation work too!!
Details are still fuzzy (NOT due to toxiciy), but we
are also fermenting a "small-batch marriage ceremony"
in the next week or 2! Apparently the crossroads of
moving, new careers, K2's 40th birthday last week have
attenuated to give a somewhat sweet, though
well-balanced, clear, and refreshing life direction.
Thanks for great beers and memories everyone!!!
The dude abides!

Greetings from the MHBA. Rick here with yet another
noon time announcement produced with extra words to
mask the limited content. Some humor may be hidden
within.
Now that I have your attention, the Christmas
Extravaganza in early December needs your help and
commitments. You may recall I mentioned something
about donations - well here is the request. The
club needs about 10 good volunteers to inquire at
homebrew shops and microbreweries about free stuff
that would be willing to donate to the MHBA
Christmas Fund. We have a bunch of stuff from last
winter but am not sure of the quantity. Every
member has at least one door prize in his kitchen or
brewery! Donate glasses you are tired of, a special
garage sale find, something partially used, you get
the picture right?
If willing to donate some time and expertise, let me
know. If no one volunteers, we will just have to
get on with business as usual. One individual per
establishment in a caring and polite manner so we
appear organized.
Try to request things that don't cost money but have
value. Assistant brewer for a day certificates are
exceptional and were very well received. Even to
dig out a mash tun of spent grain is worthy of a
vacation day! I can think of about 5 or 6 places
that may volunteer one or more certificates.
Glasses, anything stainless steel, books, magazines,
etc. You choose but with let me know first so we
can keep organized.
If no one volunteers, we will only have about 50
door prizes, wonderful Christmas cheer, pot luck
meal from the kitchen of eclectic cooks, beverages
from around the world, Rick's Triple R Ribs, and a
free club glass to every paid member.
Did you catch that last line folks? It's going to
be tight but we believe we can deliver in time for
Christmas. All paid members (we know where you
live) will receive a club glass. These are fancy 10
ounce Nonic glasses with the bulge to prevent you
from dropping them. We had considered smaller
sample glasses but found a decent price on a much
nicer glass that we think you will like. The MHBA
logo will be below the bulge in a silver gray single
color made to duplicate acid etch. We tried to
include the "--full pint-- but they can not print
above the bulge.
The other thing about the club glasses is quantity.
You can buy them and give them away as gifts. Buy a
complete set of 12. Send them to friends in far
away places. Stocking stuffers. Does anyone get
the feeling there will be an adequate quantity for a
while? Does 24 dozen sound adequate? We could up
the order if necessary?
So there you have it club members. Hope this noon
wisdom catches you with warm feelings for the
wonderful afternoon and it inspires you to volunteer
your expertise to go out and beg - in the name of
the MHBA.
Thanks in advance
Rick O
PS. We have a few other contests lined up that will
be similar to previous years. These include peoples
choice award, best beverage award, best food award,
best dessert award, and a special award that will be
announced the day of the festivity.
See you all in December.
