Subject: Summit announces the release of Gold Sovereign Ale
Hi Al,
Just in time for spring, Summit Brewing Company is releasing its newest beer to come out
of the Unchained Series, Batch 06, Gold Sovereign Ale (GSA). It will be available in
draught March 7, and in bottles March 21. The GSA is also one of the first beers to be
released with the new pry-off bottle design, along with Summit’s Extra Pale Ale.
Please let me know if you’d like me to arrange for an interview of Unchained 06 Brewer
Damian McConn, or if you’d like a high resolution image of the bottle.
Thanks for your consideration!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Summit Releases Unchained 06: Gold Sovereign Ale
Newest beer inspired by century-old recipe
ST. PAUL, MN – (March 1, 2011) – Summit Brewing Company today announces Gold Sovereign
Ale, the sixth beer produced in its limited-time-only Unchained Series. Created by brewer
Damian McConn, the beer will be available in draught the week of March 7 and in bottles
the week of March 21. Gold Sovereign Ale will also include the new pry-off style bottle.
“Damian’s brew honors the pale ales of the Victorian era while using modern ingredients
available only in the last few years,” said Mark Stutrud, CEO and Founder of Summit
Brewing Company. “The result is an unfiltered beer with a solid malt base and an assertive
character.”
Gold Sovereign Ale’s base malt, Westminster, was approved for brewing in the UK just a few
years ago. McConn used the organic, floor malted version as a nod to beer production in
the 19th Century. The beer has an aroma of pear, apricot and spicy orange, ending in a
pronounced hop bitterness and malt flavor reminiscent of freshly baked bread.
Special kick-off events for the Gold Sovereign Ale featuring brewer Damian McConn are
happening all this month.
Wednesday, March 9: Blue Door Pub in St. Paul, 3 p.m.
