I have a 20 gallon electric system running with a Brewtroller control system. My system is a bit more complex since I run two elements on the HLT and BK along with  a RIMS and  pump. Also, I had a 10 gallon electric system in the past.  I have my controller set up with a low voltage control box (Black upper) and a high voltage box( lower). The high voltage box can be unplugged and the heater elements plugged into the wall outlet should I have a system failure. Also,  the wiring  is straight forward. A circuit(s) to code run to an outlet box. Your control system plugs into the system allowing for manual operation and  future flexibility.

Also, if you have not started on the control panel make sure to use SSRs instead of relays so you can vary the boil power with a PWM control (at 50% my BK is on for 0.5 sec and off for 0.5 sec).

I recommend wiring for manual plugs and brewing a few batches to learn more about the your system. You will have your panel for a long time.   My system is in a perpetual state of slow evolution.

Subject: [mba] Electrician recommendations - ebrewing

I made the decision to switch from propane to electric brewing earlier in the summer. I sold my old brew stand and rebuilt one more specific to an electric setup. I had my kettles welded (Thanks to the list for hooking me up with Primitive Precision Metalcraft for the welding) to allow me to connect the elements and I also purchased and started to assemble the control panel but am admitting defeat in my ability to understand electrical diagrams.

Would anyone happen to have any recommendations for an electrician or fellow homebrewer who is knowledgeable and has done something like this?  I posted up on the facebook page but haven't had luck finding someone yet.

I purchased a DIY kit from ebrewingsupply.com so I should have all the needed parts, heck it even comes with wiring diagrams which to the right person probably make perfectly good sense.  Take a peek here http://theharaldsons.com/downloads/wiring_diagrams.pdf

I'm not even sure where to start asking so I thought I'd try here. If you have any leads please send them my way. I'm not looking for a handout as I'm ready to pay for services.  I just want to make beer again :)

Here are some photos of my setup that I've put together.

Thanks for reading!

This is not my control panel but the kind of thing I'm looking to have done:
