The Minnesota Home Brewers Association will again be offering the
Beer Judge Certification Program classes this coming winter. If
you are interested in taking the course, please drop me a note at
alboyce(a)bigfoot.com.
The class consists of 14 consecutive Thursdays, from 6-10pm. Each
week we discuss and learn about a specific technical brewing topic,
as well as taste and discuss specific beer styles, both commercial
"classic" examples of the style as well as homebrewed examples.
Each week we will be judging at least one beer, complete with
scoresheets, to improve our judging and feedback abilities.
Last year, about 14 people took the class, and about seven of those
took the certification exam, all of whom passed! I'm sure everyone
who took the class, even those who didn't take the test, would agree
that not only did they learn about beer judging, but they also
became better brewers.
We also need homebrewed examples of all of these styles of beer
If you have a couple of bottles of the style for the week that
you would be willing to share with the class, please bring it
if you can make it, or drop it off with one of the class attendees.
We always have a lot of fun! If you want to learn about beer and
brewing - come join us!
