Hey Al!
Happy April! With the 117th running of the Boston Marathon happening Monday, the local baseball team getting back on the field, and the warmer weather upon us, it is a great time to be in Boston. We're excited to be part of the Boston Marathon again this year as we bring back Boston 26.2 Brew; a beer created by our brewers as a tribute to the runners to be enjoyed throughout the month of April. We certainly hope the spectators and everyone visiting Boston will find a bar or restaurant near them to enjoy a pint.
Outside of brewing Boston 26.2 Brew in time for the marathon, we've been busy getting our different styles brewed for our Beers of Summer variety pack (more on that below) which is hitting shelves now. Long story short, we felt that pouring Summer Ale on the first day it hit 60 degrees in Boston was not only appropriate, but a necessity for some of us who are still thawing out from the colder months.
No matter which Sam Adams you have in hand, join us in toasting the runners on Monday.

Take Your Shot! 2013 Samuel Adams LongShot Contest is now OPEN!Take your shot at becoming a homebrew legend. In 1984, Jim Koch, founder and brewer of Samuel Adams beers, brewed his first batch of Samuel Adams Boston Lager in his kitchen. Now you can follow in his footsteps and have your homebrew nationally distributed by entering into the Samuel Adams LongShot Homebrew Contest. This contest gives you the chance to brew your own beer and submit it to be accessed by a team of brewers and other judges for a chance to have your beer featured in our 2013 LongShot American Homebrew Contest winning 6-pack. Entries are due in mid-May so you had better get brewing. Join us in our love of home brewing and send in your beer.

While we're talking about homebrews, we also want to congratulate Zack Adams, Dave Anderson and James Schirmer, our 2012 LongShot American Homebrew Contest winners. Their homebrews have been selected to appear in our 2013 LongShot 6-packs which are rolling out across the country now!
Magnificent Seven (Created by Zack Adams, CT) -- Zack and his friend Pat decided to create a brew loaded with their seven favorite hops. A showcase of US hop varieties and true to an Imperial American IPA, this beer has grapefruit, piney and resinous notes.
Strawberry Lager (Created by Dave Anderson, OH (Samuel Adams Employee)) -- Dave wanted to create a refreshing summertime beer, something that he could enjoy after a round of golf on a hot day. This lager has a bright and fresh strawberry character, balanced with toffee and citrus notes.
Beer Flower Wheat (Created by James Schirmer, CA) -- With hot summer months and fun gatherings in mind, James brewed an easy drinking wheat beer with an exotic kick. This beer is smooth and light with the delicate flavors of hibiscus.

Welcome Beers of SummerBaseball is underway, the weather is getting warmer by the day, and we can't stop thinking about where the summer months will take us. To help continue the good thoughts towards summer vacations, barbeques and trips to the beach, we've decided to roll out our Beers of Summer variety 12-packs. This year's variety pack will include:
Samuel Adams Boston Lager® - The backbone of the Samuel Adams family of brews, this complex and balanced lager pairs perfectly with a wide variety of grilled entrees.
Samuel Adams® Summer Ale - A summer staple, this bright and citrusy brew's crisp wheat character is combined with lemon zest, and the peppery spice of Grains of Paradise.
Samuel Adams® Belgian Session - Back for a second year, this beer is a crisp, refreshing version of a traditional Belgian ale. Fruity, slightly spicy flavors from the Belgian yeast are balanced by light toffee and caramel notes from our select blend of malts.
Samuel Adams® Blueberry Hill Lager - New for the summer season; this crisp, unfiltered lager is aged on blueberries for a pleasant blueberry aroma and taste. To take this fruity character in a new direction, we brewed with Tettnang Tettnanger Noble hops for an added, subtle citrus note.
Samuel Adams® Little White Rye - New for the summer season; this hazy golden brew appears to be a classic witbier with its bright notes of orange citrus and coriander, but there's a bit more mischief up its sleeve. Behind its sweet exterior lies an intriguing blend of white sage and rye for an earthy, spicy, and thoroughly refreshing brew.
Samuel Adams® Porch Rocker - After a well-received welcome last summer, this unique brew returns with a bright and citrusy taste, a fresh-squeezed lemon effervescence and a refreshing finish. Crisp and tangy, with its combination of lager & tart lemonade, this unique summer quencher is our take on the Bavarian Radler.

Raise a Pint, Brew a DreamPlease join us this April and May as we raise a pint of Samuel Adams Boston Lager® in celebration and support of small food, beverage, hospitality businesses, and craft brewers.
From April 15th through May 31st we will be donating $.05 for every pint of Boston Lager (up to $250,000) poured at participating bars and restaurants to our Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream program. This money will go to support small businesses across the country, maybe even in your backyard! Through Samuel Adams Brewing the American Dream, we strive to help remove some of the unique barriers faced by small food and beverage businesses (barriers Jim Koch also faced in 1984 when starting The Boston Beer Company) by providing access to microloans as well as coaching and mentoring opportunities. Now YOU have the chance to help small businesses across and country and in your community by Raising a Pint of Samuel Adams Boston Lager and Brewing a Dream.
