FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Beer Month® Announces Partnership with Coors Brewing Company
Association of Brewers and Coors Brewing Co. unite for the second time
to promote and celebrate American Beer in July
Boulder, Colo. · May 16, 2003 -The fourth annual American Beer Month
(ABM) campaign will enjoy nationwide exposure as Coors Brewing Co. of
Golden, Colorado continues the ABM campaign for the second year in a row
with television billboards on the ESPN family of networks during the
month of July.
"Coors Brewing Companys support last year was the first ever national
television exposure for American Beer Month. It was huge. We are
thrilled to again be able to bring awareness of American Beer Month to
the American public. This promotion is an example of a great American
brewery with 130 years of tradition standing up proudly for the quality
of American beers," proclaims Paul Gatza, Director for the Institute of
Brewing Studies, a division of the Association of Brewers, a Boulder-
based organization dedicated to making quality beer and brewing
knowledge accessible to all.
American Beer Month, celebrated in the month of July, is a grassroots
campaign, organized by the Association of Brewers (AOB), to promote
American brewing and celebrate the diversity and variety of American
beer. Discover the flavors of independence has been selected as the
new slogan for the campaign. The American Beer Month campaign encourages
people to visit their local brewpub, microbrewery or beer retailer and
sample the many tasty American beers available.
Coors billboards will run on popular sports programming, through the
month of July. This is the second time American Beer Month has been
promoted nationally on television. Coors will also promote American
Beer Month with radio tags in Denver.
We are very pleased to support American Beer Month. American brewers
produce some of the finest beer in the world, and by generating consumer
awareness of American Beer Month, we hope people will choose American
brew this month, said Laura Sankey, Vice President of marketing for
Coors Brewing Company.
The AOB is providing posters, stickers and web site support to
nationwide events, breweries, beer festivals and more to spread the
American-beer gospel. Events and fun ways to celebrate the month can be
found on
www.americanbeermonth.com.
National brewery restaurants have joined in the celebration. Rock Bottom
Restaurants & Breweries will again offer its annual specialty brew,
American Dream nationwide in July in honor of ABM. Hops Restaurant Bar
and Brewery is tapping a special brew, Star Spangled Ale. Hops and Rock
Bottom are also offering a discount to American Homebrewers Association
members as part of national pub discount program.
July 1 celebrates the year anniversary of the AOBs own American Beer
Month celebration. American Homebrewers Association (AHA) members have
been enjoying discounts on beer, food and/or merchandise at
participating pubs around the country. Members can visit over 50
brewery/brewpubs at more than 120 locations nation wide. Members show
their membership cards to wait staff to receive their discount. By
giving its AHA members this pub discount program, the AOB is bringing
the homebrewing and professional brewing community together. A complete
list of participating pubs and membership information can be found on
