DeWolf-Cosyns was NOT closed down by Cargill. Rather it was closed down by Interbrew, it's sole owner, as a part of their long-term strategy to get out of the malting industry. In fact, Cargill, and yours truly, tried several different things to keep DeWolf maltings in Aalst open for business. Realizing that this was going to be a losing battle, I did the next best thing and reached an agreement with Belgium's only other specialty malt house, Dingemans of Stabroek, where many of the DeWolf recipes will live on. All of the Dingemans malts are in stock at our warehouse and the initial response has been extremely positive. Contrary to another rumor that is circulating, Cargill is in no way, shape or form closing down Crisp Maltings. We have zero ownership in Dingemans, Crisp, Pauls, Meussdoerffer, Weyermann or any of the other excellent products that we represent and distribute to the North American market. We are strictly in the business of marketing and distributing these products. I feel silly for even having to answer to these mistruths, but I've personally given a lot of myself in building the Specialty Malt division at Cargill.
