For me same reasons as Al.
I tend to brew, almost always, strictly to style, so I like to get the
feedback from good experienced judges, which sometimes doesn't happen...so
then I just add those judges to my enemies list. ;-) Someday....
Seriously, I think the impartial feedback has helped me tweak my beers and
be a better brewer.

I'll kick it off...
I enter contests because:
1) I want honest, unbiased opinions of my beer, and how I can make it
better
2) I like to PARTICIPATE in beer contests, and I like to enter my beers
in
the contests I participate in
3) I like to WIN - and you can't win if you don't enter!
4) I like to support the hobby, and entering contests encourages more and
better brewing by participating members
