Holy Moly Rocky - The Cider Pressing was a huge success. Well, mostly.
Attendance was huge. I lost count after 25 people. Men, Women, children.
And production was amazing. We pressed just over 100 gallons of apple juice.
I usually expect about 5 gal. per 1/2 hour - but we exceeded that. Great work.
My only regret is that some folk were unable to leave with some juice due to
time limitations.
Much thanks to the veterans and new timers. Sorry about the slightly damp
environment, but the canopy worked pretty well. A couple of gusts of wind
tested the weights and peoples reflexes. And special thanks to the folk who
provided the liquid refreshments.
I got there about 8:30 and started to set up. By 9:30, a couple folk showed up
and helped pick the first bushels of apples. We were using a variety of
Regents, Harrelson, Connell, and Cortland. The last folk finally gave up
about
5:00 and all was "cleaned up" by 5:30. As I said, an amazing level of
production
with using only one press.
