A few months ago, there was a posting about water sources in the
metropolitan area and someone mentioned the great spring water by Lions
Tap in Eden Prairie. It had been years since I had used anything other
than filtered city water so I started my experiment with 5 full buckets
of spring water.
The water tasted great and had no off odors so it seemed logical to
check pH and acidify if necessary. Although I don't have super accurate
measuring equipment, I typically add about 1cc of 85% phosphoric acid to
neutralize the carbonate in one gallon of tap water.
Guess what I discovered about the spring water? It takes about 1cc of
85% phosphoric acid to neutralize the carbonate in one gallon.
Therefore, our aquifer has a leak! I'll let you try the beer. The name
is Dozer and it's a big winter beer @ about 7-8%. The name refers to
what many folks have done after having a few too many.
Cheers!
