New Products
- The HopShot
- What is the HopShot? The HopShot is a simple whole hop extract.
It comes in the form of a syringe containing 5 milliliters of the
extract. Treat the HopShot as you would bittering hops, the HopShot is
not isomerized, and thus needs to be boiled. One milliliter of HopShot
correlates to approximately 10 IBU's in 5 gallons of 1.050 wort boiled
for 60 min. There is no specific hop used in making the HopShot, most
likely it is a proprietary blend of various hops. The HopShot is an
excellent and inexpensive bittering tool. One HopShot is $2.99.
- The Electric Brew Heater
- Boil wort, heat sparge water, or raise mash temperatures
indoors without a vent hood or exhaust fan using this 110V electric
heater. The 2200 watt heating element is controlled by a thermostat
with infinite adjustment from 120° to 212° F. Heating element has a
stainless housing with a zinc-plated copper elbow. Also features a
built-in ground fault interrupter. Use on a dedicated outlet with at
least a 20-amp circuit breaker. Available in 11" and 15" models to fit
a variety of brew kettles (not recommended for use in plastic coolers).
Both sizes are $184.99.
- After some product testing by NB employees we feel that the
Electric Brew Heater is great for heating your mash and/or sparge
water. As a boiler, the kettle size (height and diameter) is a big
factor in determining what strength of boil and how long you will reach
a boil. Makes a great supplement to speed boiling times if already
using a separate burner.
Windsor and Nottingham Ale Yeasts
- After a long wait Northern Brewer is happy to announce that we
have both of these dry yeasts back. More information on these wonderful
yeasts can be found at Dan Star
Yeast.
Warrior Hops.... Come Out And Play!
- After a lengthy absence Northern Brewer has attained some Warrior
hop pellets. $2.99 for 1 oz.
- Typical alpha: 14.0-16.0%. Super-high alpha hop with low
cohumulone.
Aggressive bittering hop, but with its citrus-and-spice character it
also does well as a finishing hop.
