New item – info on the Rahr tour!!!

Chris German is a Jack of All Brews member and works for Brewers Supply Group which is a subsidiary of Rahr Malting.

Chris has arranged a tour of Rahr Malting’s Shakopee facility on Saturday, July 21st.

The tour starts at 9:00 am with a bus from the campground.

The tour will last between 1 and 2 hours and a bus will bring you back.

Beverages and other goodies will be provided to participants who must be 21 years of age or older.

If possible, please bring a bottle of homebrew to donate to the tour guides.

There are a limited number of seats…..contact Chris German at cgerman@rahr.com to reserve your seat.

The Shakopee production facility annually produces 370,000 MT (24 million bushels) of malt, making it the largest single site malt producer in the world. The campus consists of five individual malthouses, four Saladin units and one tower. The original malthouse was constructed in 1937 with new houses added in 1954, 1977, 1981 and 1994.

Each malthouse continues to be upgraded with the latest in equipment and process control, assuring complete customer satisfaction. The storage capacity consists of 300 bins with a total storage capacity of 8 million bushels. Our onsite modern laboratory provides analysis for both barley and malt quality using the latest technology including pilot malting.

Our malt production is a perfect blend of art and science – efficient and technologically advanced. The state of the art facility is fully automated with the latest in control technology. Two major North American rail carriers, the Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific, service this site.

The Shakopee site serves as the headquarters for the Rahr Malting Companies.

Reminder:

This is a reminder for the campout and a request for an estimated headcount from each club.  The full announcement is down below.

We especially need to have a close estimate for the Saturday night dinner so we can make sure there’s enough food for everyone.

Here is a list of the clubs.  Please let me know of corrections or additions – I need to contact the clubs marked in red.
