I do not enter beer contests because:
1. I keg all of my beer and I have never had any luck
counter pressure bottling.
2. Receiving very odd comments on some judging sheets.
Among the highlights are a comment about a witbier not
being hoppy enough, and a comment that my beer had no
flaws yet the score was not very high.
From #2 I decided that if my beer was not enjoyed, I
might as well just keep it myself and distribute
amongst a more receptove audience.
That being said, I have made some improvements in my
process so #2 is probably the primary issue, it has
now shifted to number 1 (lack of a good method to
counterpressure bottle).
However, I never discourage my customer from entering
contests.
Cheers

Curt Stock and I have been kicking around why people
do or don't enter beer
contests. What's your reasons, either way?
