Summit Celebrates 27 years with Backyard Bash
Summit partners with Minnesota Music Coalition for Fundraising Concert
ST. PAUL, Minn. – (July 24, 2013) – Summit Brewing Company is celebrating its 27th year as Minnesota’s craft beer pioneer with a Backyard Bash on Saturday, September 7 from 12pm to 8pm. Tickets are $18 (fees included) and go on sale July 29 at 10am. Half of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC), a nonprofit service organization dedicated to supporting Minnesota’s independent music community.
In 2012 the Bash raised over $18,000 for the MMC. An additional hour-long set has been added to the lineup this year to bring in more Minnesota music fans and help break last year’s fundraising record.
“The Backyard Bash is one of our favorite days of the year,” said Mark Stutrud, president and founder of Summit Brewing Company. “It’s a day for the community to celebrate the terrific music from independent Minnesota musicians. We’re absolutely thankful for all of the Summit fans, the Minnesota Music Coalition, and our partners at The Current for making this event possible.”
The Backyard Bash will include performances by local bands Secret Stash Soul Revue (featuring The Valdons, Sonny Knight, Jackie Harris and Wanda Davis), Haley Bonar (full band), The New Standards, Lizzo (featuring Lazerbeak), Night Moves, Charlie Parr and friends, and Hotpants DJs.
David Campbell from 89.3 The Current will emcee the event, along with Ellen Stanley from the MMC. Local restaurants will be onsite and, of course, plenty of Summit beer varieties will be on tap, including specialty cask beer tappings throughout the day. Summit is also partnering with Minneapolis-based Eureka Recycling to work toward a zero waste event.
