Given that the MHBA hasn't been in charge of an All-Club Campout since about 2008 or so, I figured it was our turn (and other clubs concur). And given that I'm the VP and enjoy attending the campouts, I've put it upon myself to organize this year's event.
BIG NOTE!!! The date listed on the website and on the postcards was put there just as a reminder that there IS a campout every summer. The actual dates will be August 1-3, or even the 4th if you want to stay Sunday evening. A few of us did last year and had a lovely time.
The campout will be back at Camp Nushka on Cass Lake. For those who haven't been, it's a very private spot right on the lake. It's a Boy Scout camping area, but they really don't use it any longer. We are the only people for about two miles in any direction, and there are two large pavilions, plus tons of space for tents and campers. There is no electricity or running water, but the serenity of the place more than makes up for the slight lack of amenities. Perfectly wonderful biffies are available, and they will be cobweb-free and equipped with new air fresheners and glow sticks.
And you can't beat the price! Even with more wood than we can burn, it's about $5/head to stay there.
I'll be looking for many volunteers to help with events, cooking, and site maintenance, but for now, just please mark your calendars for the first weekend in August.
Thanks,
John
