Hello Everyone.
Everything looks set for Mead Day at the Johnson's Farm. Russ and Winnie plan on doing some Honey extraction and processing demos like last year. They are both super knowledgable when it comes to honyey, so if you have any questions on what makes your honey taste like it does or why some are dark and otheres are light, etc. they'll surely know.
Winnie has promised a roast turkey for sandwiches like last year. If you're not into turkey bring a cooler! Better yet bring something edible to share!
The Johnson's recently harvested ~1000# of buckwheat and clover honey which they will sell at $2.25/# if you bring your own container.
This email is a final reminder to sign up for the trip on Team Roadkill's custom cruiser. We will be meeting at 8:30AM outside of Midwest Home brewing:
3440 Belt Line Blvd.
Minneapolis, MN 55416
There is still plenty of room on the
bus, so please contact me if you are interested. Right now the cost is $25/person, but this cost will drop if more people come.
It is definately worth it too! You'll feel much better (...happier/drunker) not having to worry about sobering up before the hour drive back to the cities. If you haven't been to a MHBA Mead day, you can't appreciate how nice it is to have someone else driving, it's a wild time! I hear the bus has a new AC system this year too.
Also, the style of the month is Strong Ale (this includes Old Ale, and both English and American Barleywines). MhBA is allowed to select one beer to represent our club in the AHA COC
See you on Sat!
