I want to take a moment to thank everyone who entered and who volunteered the 8th Annual Byggvir's Big Beer Cup at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. We had almost 300 entries entered by over 100 different brewers. There were over 70 volunteers who made this contest happen. Congratulations to all those who won medals! I hope to see you next year!
-Gera Exire LaTour, Contest Organizer
P.S. The website will show the winner list later today and we will be sending out emails to all those who entered. I will be mailing out score sheets (and hopefully medals and prizes) over the next couple of weeks.

Mississippi River Distilling Company will have some 15 gallon rye whiskey barrels available for purchase soon. We will be harvesting the barrels within the next couple of months. The cost of the barrels is $125. If there is enough "northern" interest, I can arrange a road trip to bring them up.
If interested, contact me at scot(a)mrdistilling.com

Subject: Fresh Cascades, and Willamettes.
To: brettglenna(a)gmail.com
Good Morning Brett Glenna,
My name is Jesse John Ward and I would like to ask if any of your club
members would be interested in some free hops. I've got cascade and
willamette plants in their fourth year. The hops are up on the bines and
I've got eight 17' x 3/8" ropes that are about ready for harvest. I'm in a
nursing program right now and just don't have the time to harvest them
myself.
I would be very happy to donate these hops to anyone that would like to
have them. I'm located in Corcoran just west of Maple Grove. If anyone is
willing to make the drive out I'll gladly cut the ropes down and give them
over.
Sincerely,
Jesse John Ward

Dear fellow brewers, please pass this message along to your clubs and any
other brewers who might be interested.
The Nordeast Brewers Alliance <http://NordeastBrewersAlliance.org> is proud
to be hosting the 3rd annual Big River Homebrew Competition. Capped at
225 entries and AHA/BJCP certified, this competition is for beer only, no
meads or ciders. In addition to all BJCP categories, we also have two
additional style categories: 100% Brett and American Wild Ale. If there
are sour or funky beers out there, this is the competition for them!
Registration <http://nordeasthbc.brewcompetition.com> is open until Sep
28th, entries are due at drop off locations the 28th as well.
$8 per entry. A portion of our proceeds will again be going to the East
Side Neighborhood Services <http://esns.org>, a non-profit neighborhood
assistance group in NE MPLS. Last year we were able to donate $375 and are
hoping to increase that amount this year.
Judging will be Oct 11/12 at ESNS. We are welcoming volunteers for judges
and stewards.
We will be announcing winners on Oct 18th at the Big River Brew Fest
<http://www.esns.org/event-1728508>, and will have score sheets available
for pickup at the fest as well. By the way, tickets for this amazing fest
are only $25!

a volunteer.
Cheers!
