Hey everyone!
Just a reminder that the next MHBA meeting is our 5th Annual Home Brew Fest on April 26th from noon - 3 pm at Midwest Supplies.
This has been a very popular event and it is a great opportunity to share your beer, mead, or cider with your fellow members. There will be prizes again this year for People's Choice Beer and Mead/Cider. You can bring bottles, growlers, or kegs---any amount, but try to bring enough so you can share.
To help this event run smoothly, I assign each entry a number and print out labels with the styles beforehand. Therefore, please contact me before the meeting to let me know what home brew you plan to bring, so I don't have to do too much writing at the event. Also, let me know if you're going to want a spot on one of the jockey boxes.
This is also a great event to bring a friend who is contemplating getting involved in either homebrewing or joining the MHBA. Hope to see you there!

Spring is never coming to this godforsaken place, so we'll have to go outside and play despite the nasty weather. To assist with your vitamin-D-building activities, the MN Homebrewers Association will tailgate at and attend a Saint Paul Saints game for the 98th time since 1877. This will be the final tailgating adventure at Midway Stadium, as the Saints move to a new downtown home in 2015. Join us Thursday, May 22nd as we reminisce about the past 97 MHBA Saints events--the Midway tailgating of the past 22 years, the streetcar double-headers against the Minneapolis Millers in the 50's (remember in 1952 when Gera fell asleep on the streetcar back to the Saint Paul half of the day and failed to get off with the group at Lexington park?), the Saint Paul Apostle games of the late 1800's (who will forget the time when Greg and Bonnie's wool clothing caught fire while they were grilling brats over the wood fire?). As always, the club will provide tables, chairs, and some beer and food. All you have to do is purchase your tickets and bring some food to share. This year, rather than sending me a check, you can purchase your tickets ($15 each) via the club sitehttp://www.mnbrewers.com/events/event/2014-sinning-saints-98/ Many thanks to Dave Royer for making that happen! If you wait too long, then I'll release tickets back to the Saints so the the club isn't on the hook for many unsold tickets, so please purchase them NOW! Thanks much,
John Personal. Professional.

Please take a moment to contact Joe Atkins, as well as your own
congressfolk.
Here's a website to help you find out the names of your state legislators:

Pass this along to your club members and other MN Homebrewers.

Subject: Call to Action - MN homebrewing legislation
Dear Brett, John, Gera, Dave, Al, Chris and Matt:
I am writing about HF 2999 regarding homebrewing. The legislative process
is beginning to heat up, and we've been told we need to contact
Representative Joe Atkins, Chair of the House Commerce and Consumer
Protection Finance and Policy, and ask him to support the bill as well.
His email address is rep.joe.atkins(a)house.mn. HF 2999 has been referred to
his committee, and we need to be proactive to make sure it gets passed on to
the floor.
My Representative (Tom Anzelc) introduced the legislation, and has been very
supportive, but he cannot carry it alone. As a member of the Boreal Brewers
of Grand Rapids, MN, I am doing all I can to get the word out. It testified
before the Senate Commerce Committe last week, and that went well. We need
to keep the momentum moving forward.
I see you guys have posted a nice call to action on your web page.
Thanks for doing that, we really appreciate it. We ask that you follow up
and send an email to your members urging them to contact their
representatives.
This will be the best chance we have to get progressive home brewing
legislation passed, and we need as many brewers as possible to help. I
would appreciate it if you could BCC me on any emails of support, so we can
verify that contacts are being made.
Thanks again for what you have already done, and thanks in advance for the
extra effort to help get HF2999 and SF2604 approved.
