Dakota County Technical College: possible brewing curiculum

A friend of mine works here and asked for my help in seeing if anyone would be interested in such a program. If so, they have a survey they would love for you to take. Please share as needed. thanks, Don Osborn ------------- Dakota County Technical College (DCTC), a 2-year technical college in Rosemount, Minnesota, is looking at launching a 21-credit certificate program called Brewing and Beer Steward Technology in Fall Semester 2015. This program is designed to prepare students for careers in the brewpub, microbrewing, and commercial brewing industries. DCTC is a member of the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities system. MHBA Christmas Party tonight!

I'm certain you know the details, but if you were on the fence about attending tonight's fabulous Christmas party, well, fall to the 'go' side! What's not to love about a party with live music (Mark Kreitzer and Dan Newton), tons of homebrew, a keg of special commercial beer, mounds of lovingly-crafted potluck items, and a few delectable food surprises? You're correct--nothing! Bring at least 60-70 oz. of your own homebrew and we'll share it around with whoever is curious at 8:30 for the Brewers Hall of Fame program. You tell the interested throng when/how/why you made it, then tell us if you would like comments. BJCP Tasting Exam 12/14/14

I have a TWO seats available for the BJCP Tasting Exam that will be held in Minneapolis on Sunday, December 14th at 10 am. The exam will include six beers and will last for 90 minutes. (I will send the location and other information to those who sign up for the exam under a separate email.) To be able to take this exam, you will need to have passed the online BJCP exam http://bjcp.coursewebs.com or already have a BJCP ID number (from taking previous BJCP exams). The cost is $40 for first time taking the Tasting Exam and $15 for repeat exams. Please make the check out to Gera Exire LaTour and send to: 3757 Dupont Avenue N, Minneapolis, MN 55412. I will also need a copy of certificate that says you passed the online exam or your BJCP number. This is first come/first served. I will NOT hold a seat for you if you do not qualify. December Holiday party information

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE ANNUAL HOLIDAY POTLUCK (A.K.A. OUR DECEMBER MEETING) FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19th, 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Address: CSPS Hall (above the Glockenspiel Restaurant) 383 Michigan Street, St. Paul (corner of Michigan & West Seventh Streets) Socializing will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pm Buffet-style food service will begin at 7:00 pm Setup will start around 5:30 pm and teardown at 9:30 pm Again this Year: The club is providing a 5-gallon keg of commercial beer. *What to bring: * *Food:* The theme is dishes prepared with BEER, so come with a potluck dish to share—also bring copies of the recipe, serving utensils, and extension cords (if necessary).A "People's Choice" award will be given for the best potluck dish with beer as an ingredient. Plates, napkins, and silverware will be provided. *Beer to share:* Bring any beer, mead, or cider that you wish to share. There will be a "Peoples Choice" award given for the best beer, mead, or cider. Bottles, growlers, and kegs are welcome, and the club jockey box will be available. Don't forget a small tasting glass—some plastic glasses will be available in case of emergency. *Family and Friends*: This is a family-friendly event, so bring your significant other, kids, and/or any friends/family that have ever expressed an interest in home brewing or beer. Just to be clear: you and your guest don't have to be club members to attend, but we encourage everyone to sign up for 2015 membership to support club activities in the future. *As this is one of the most attended gatherings of the year, it's a great opportunity to get out and meet your fellow homebrewers.
