MHBA-
If you got this already - my apologies.
This is a FUN TIME! If you have not been to an All-Club Campout yet, for
those three days it's the best beer bar in the entire state! Everyone
brings their BEST homebrew, and their BEST trophy beers that they've been
collecting since the previous year's campout. And the sponsoring club
ALWAYS puts on a fabulous spread for Saturday dinner. (I don't know how the
Northern Ale Stars are going to beat their LAST spread - a Crab and Shrimp
boil!)
And the Cass Lake campground is BEAUTIFUL!
See you there!

Come one, Come All To the All Club Camp Out!
Yes, it's that time of year again, the weather is warming up (sort of), the
mosquitos are out in force and it's time for a camp out with great people,
great food and, of course, great beer.
Details
* Friday August 2-Sunday August 4 (Arrive anytime after 1 pm)
* Camp Nushka (just east of Cass Lake, MN in the beautiful Chippewa
Forest, on the shores of Cass Lake)
* Many spaces available for tents, some camper sites as well.
* Bring your own camping gear and food for the weekend (Saturday night
meal provided) plus beer to share (kegs okay, we'll have jockey boxes
available)
* Cost $20 per person (cash or checks accepted; make payable to
Northern Ale Stars)
* This is a rustic site, no running water or electricity (drinking
water will be available) so plan accordingly. What the camp might lack in
modern amenities, it more than makes up for in beauty and charm.
Events:
* All Club competition Saturday afternoon (bring representation for
your club in the categories of Lagers, Ales, Belgians, Meads). See if your
club can take home the coveted trophy keg)
* Saturday Dinner a Northern Minnesota Crab Boil (sponsored by the
Northern Ale Stars)
* Fire Jenga (to those who are regulars to this event, no explanation
needed, to new comers, you won't want to miss this)
* Bring Bocce ball or any other yard games you have
So we can make sure we have enough food, please e-mail your plan to attend
to <mailto:tsarne@msn.com> tsarne(a)msn.com by July 26. You can send
questions to the same e-mail address.
Directions:
* From the East, West or South, take which ever route brings you to
highway 2, west of Grand Rapids, East of Bemidji or Cass Lake
* On Hwy 2, about 5 miles east of the town of Cass Lake, look for SR10
turn North and go 4.2 miles
* Turn West on Cass Bluff Loop Road go 1.2 miles
* Look for the sign (on the left) that says Camp Nushka (if you hit
Knutson Dam, you've gone too far).
If everyone who ordered tickets shows up tomorrow, we should have 58 folks at the game! If you have not yet PAID for your tickets, then smack yourself upside the head and make certain to bring payment of $12/ticket on the morrow, please. Even if you don't show up, you're still on the hook for the tickets you had the club purchase on your behalf. The tailgating parking lot opens at 4:00, and we are once again in tailgating spot #5, which will have tables and chairs ready and waiting. Please bring some delectable homemade food item to share, and bring some delectable homemade beer to share. Everything you need to eat the food with will be provided by the club. Bob Norman will be bringing the mongo-grill, and we think we've solved the issue of having it opened too often to stay at cooking temperature. Bob has purchased some eight-foot brats from Von Hansen's, and found a bakery that made very long buns for us. Bob will cook the brats on his huge grill, and nothing else will go on that grill, so there should be no temperature problem. Each person who purchased a ticket will get six inches of brat/bun, courtesy of the MHBA. If you don't care for brats, or want something in addition to the brat, then I will have my smaller grill available for other items. Thank you, Bob!! As always, I ordered nice weather, but this year it cost me a few weeks of cold, rainy days in advance--I'm certain that it will be worth the expense. See you in 22 hours . . .John Personal. Professional.

Hello, Here's the update for the game on 6/10. Chairs and tables will be at tailgating spot #5. The lot opens at 4:00. Please bring beer and some good food to share. Condiments, tableware, and grills will be there. Bob Norman is bringing his BIG grill, and since it doesn't work to have his grill opened often, he has agreed to cook up VERY long bratwurst from Von Hanson's Meat. He also has found a bakery to make VERY long buns. Everyone with a ticket to the game will get 6" of bratwurst and bun, courtesy of the club. If you would like more than one 6" brat, then please e-mail me privately by Monday evening, so that Bob can place the brat/bun order. The extra brats will be $3 each. Thanks,John Personal. Professional.

Registration is now open for the 2013 Indiana Brewers' Cup Competition.
The Indiana State Fair Brewers Cup is one of the largest Craft Beer
competitions in the country. The Brewers Cup began judging quality homebrew
and professional entries in 1999. The competition continues to have annual
growth. In 2012 over 1100 homebrewed and professional beers were judged
over three sessions. BJCP judges, professional brewers, and BJCP apprentices
(including those who have taken the test) are welcomed and encouraged to
judge at this year's competition. Judging will take place on Friday, July
12th, and Saturday, July 13th, at the Marsh Blue Ribbon Pavilion on the
Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is a BJCP-sanctioned competition, so points
will be awarded. We also pay a small stipend to offset travel expenses to
professional brewers and BJCP judges. Judges who travel at least 50 miles
one way and judge at least two sessions will receive a $100 stipend. Local
judges will be paid $12.50 per session. We provide meals during the judging
and you are welcome to stay for the Awards Reception on Saturday evening.
For Homebrewers The Indiana State Fair Brewers' Cup will again participate
in the Masters Championship of Amateur Brewing (MCAB) as a Qualifying Event.
