Just a reminder that the April meeting is the "Home Brew Fest" so make sure to email me what beers, ciders, or meads you plan to bring. Previously, we have had over 50 different home brews to sample. Prizes will be given for People's Choice Beer and People's Choice Mead/Cider.
You still have time to brew something up!

Subject: [mnbrewers] Chili Cook Off
Another Chili Cook Off has been a success!! Congratulations to the winners! We'll soon have some photos of the events for all to see. I wanted to take a moment and thank those individuals who worked hard to make this event a success - Brett, Jonathan, Tom, Jerry, Neil, Greg, Chris and Paul - you all did a bang up job! I especially would like to thank Jon and Eric at Lucid Brewing for supporting us and letting us into their fine facility. Don't forget to check the website, http://mnbrewers.com/, for upcoming events. See you at the next meeting, April 29th from noon 'til 3 at the Black
Forest Inn Party Room!! Michael

Would anyone like an old fridge (dirty) or a pretty modern freezer (clean)
to turn into a kegerator? Must be picked up by April 1, as I'm moving.
The fridge is circa late '70s, and no one has looked into its scary
uncleaned interior for a few years, but I'm sure that it still runs.
Perfect for a garage. Or teenagers.
The freezer is very nice. It's an Imperial model, with a switch and heating
element for defrosting. It also has an alarm, which unfortunately does no
good when you leave the door ajar on your way out for the weekend (I know
this from personal experience). Due to that lengthy frost buildup, the
freezer no longer creates a "sucking" action when you close the door, as
the door seal needs to be replaced. I hear this is a very easy thing to do,
but as I'm officially an empty-nester, I don't need a big freezer. You
could still use it without replacing the door seal; it would just build up
frost faster.
These are available for free, although if you'd like to throw down a case
or two of homebrew for my moving crew, that would be awesome! Best to
contact me via e-mail:
beer.wench.reb(a)gmail.com
Cheers!
Rebecca
Thanks to all for coming out and bringing delicious chili and libations!
I forgot to record down the full names of the winners of this years cook
off so if those who won prizes in their categories could email me with
their contact information it would be much appreciated. I know one winner
was Tom Farrell (open category), and I believe the other winners were a
Dave F (with beans) & Maeve (without beans).
Prost!

Judging slots for the 1st round of the AHA National Homebrew Competition St
Paul judge site are half full.
Seating at the judge site is limited.

Don't expect to be able to sign up at the last minute. Unless you have
sufficient bribery cash or good beer. I said good beer, not some bourbon
barrel boozy crap. A list is available upon request.
Please forward to other club lists you may be on as I'm too lazy to look
them up myself.
Have a super awesome day! (No. I mean it.)

Hey everyone.
I just wanted to let you know that the next MHBA club meeting is April 29th from noon - 3 pm at the Black Forest Inn Party Room. This is a separate, private room from the restaurant that is located on the other side of their outdoor patio.
This is our fourth annual Home Brew Fest, which has been a highly popular meeting! Please bring your home brewed beers, meads, or ciders to share with other club members. In the past, we have had over 50 different styles to try. A couple of bottles, growlers, or kegs are all welcome.
Please send me an email letting me know what style of beer/mead/cider you plan on bringing. (Signing up ahead of time makes it easier for me to keep track. But you are still welcome to bring your brew the day of the event.) There will be prizes for People's Choice beer and People's Choice mead/cider.
The Black Forest has excellent food, so I hope you will consider ordering lunch while you are here. The address is: 1 East 26th Street, Minneapolis, MN 55404. There is a parking lot on 26th.
I am looking forward to it!

First round judging for the Upper Midwest region of the AHA National
Hombrew Competition will take place on April 13-14th in St. Paul.
To volunteer and for more details on the time, location and post-judging
volunteer party go to http://www.canadianbrewer.com/NHCRoundOne
We have a limited seating capacity at the Roseville VFW. Judging will most
likely be capped at some point.

Once again, it is time for our annual Chili Cook-Off!
Date/Time/Place:
Saturday, March 24, 2012
4:00pm until 7:00pm
Lucid Brewing, 6020 Culligan Way, Minnetonka, MN
There are three categories in which you can enter:
Red Chili - meat, but NO beans
Chili with Beans - not really chili, but we're here to have fun!
Open - green, vegetarian, white, whatever
You can help out by bringing your chili ready to eat in crock pots and
bringing along extension cords, power strips, and serving utensils.
Bowls, spoons, and napkins will be provided.
We will be looking for judges for each of the categories and have
everyone vote for their favorite overall. The winner of each category
gets a prize and the People's Choice winner gets a prize and the honor
of bringing home the Chief Chili Pepper trophy!
The March meeting also features a swap meet. Bring things you no
longer need. You can sell them, use beer currency, give them away,
even swap!
Of course, we welcome all the home brew you would like to bring to the
meeting, especially beers that go well with chili. We even like meads
and ciders.
