Hello guys,
I have never used campden tablets to kill wild yeast before, but I was told
that I should use a open bucket so it will allow the gas to leave. I was
planning to use my better bottle or for you guys that have used them
before, what do you suggest. I was told 1 tablet per gallon for 24 hours
and then pitch yeast. Right now the ingredients are in 1 gallon containers
frozen so no wild yeast will kick in.
Thanks
Erik

Alrighty folks,
I finally got confirmation from the orchard yesterday that they can
facilitate cider to be pressed a couple days in advance so we can have it
distributed at Learn to Brew Day which will be hosted once again at Barley
Johns on November 3rd. We will do our best to get there near the start of
the event, but I'm going to avoid promising a time as things are known to
come up. As it stands we will be getting 250 gallons and *should *be able
to get another order in the following month (exact details pending based on
apple supply). The price has been confirmed at ~$4.20 a gallon (please
bring cash or check in addition to your sanitized 5 gallon bucket(s)).
I have received a few offers of transportation but so I don't miss anyone
I'm just going to query the club one more time. If you have a truck that
can carry 1 ton of weight and would like to help out please send me an
email, it is much appreciated.
MOST IMPORTANT NOTE: This email is being sent to the whole club,
*receiving this
email does not mean that you have been allotted cider*. I will be sending
out an additional email to those who signed up first, if anyone opts out or
there is additional supply after the fact it will be available to anyone at
Learn to Brew day, but don't get your hopes up.
Obviously there has been even more excitement about cider this year than in
prior years, so to reiterate; the orchard seemed relatively confident they
could do another order of up to 250 gallons the following month, but they
didn't want to commit for a few more weeks. I hope to know for certain by
Learn to Brew day or very shortly thereafter. I will keep everyone in the
loop.
Cheers!
