Today is World Ocean Day and Sophi was selected by Oceana.org as an Ocean Hero:
Our junior winner, shark-loving Sophi Bromenshenkel, is 8 years old and a resident of Minnesota. By selling lemonade and hot chocolate, shark cookies and wristbands, and through email campaigns and local fliers, Sophi has raised more than $3,500 for sharks. She has partnered with the University of Miami's RJ Dunlap Marine Conservation Program, where her funds pay for satellite tags on sharks.
I am not sure this is what I wanted to be receiving I thought there was a
news letter that you sent out??

June meeting will be at Nomads World Pub in Minneapolis on Thursday June
30th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm.
With the summer weekends filling up quickly for most people we decided to
break it up a bit by holding a couple of meetings during the week. This
establishment is homebrew friendly, which means bring your beer, mead or
ciders to share and/or receive feedback. This will be great way to get
together before the long holiday weekend!

With everything that has gone on in my life the last few weeks, I have stepped down from organizing Byggvir's Big Beer Cup at the MN Renaissance Festival. They would still love to have the contest. If there is anyone interested in organizing the contest, please let me know. I am able to help in some degree, but not to the extent of previous years.
Thanks. -Gera
First, I need to apologize for the huge delay in getting the results posted. As many of you know, my house was damaged by the tornado that went through North Minneapolis the Sunday after the Best of Show judging. A week later, my much loved mother-in-law passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully. I really appreciated your patience, as well as the good thoughts that many of you offered during this time.
Thanks to all of you for helping and/or entering the MN Craft Beer Week Home Brew Contest. Without your participation there would not have been a contest. I also want to thank Midwest Supplies and Northern Brewer for donating the gift certificates that were awarded for first place in each category. Thanks also go to the Nomad World Pub and Town Hall Brewery for allowing us to use their great spaces for hosting the judging.
There were 130 entries from 80 different brewers. There were 12 categories total with an emphasis on American styles of beer. Each entry was judged by two to four people with various judging skills, but at least one had passed the Beer Judging Certification Program (BJCP) exam. There were over 40 volunteers that helped with judging, stewarding, and other administration tasks. We used the BJCP style guidelines as a basis for judging. For more information, check out their website at: www.bjcp.org.
Each of the twelve first place winners were judged in Best of Show at Town Hall Brewery by Steve Piatz (BJCP rank Grand Master III), Joel Stitzel (BJCP rank National), and Mike Hoops (Master Brewer at Town Hall) on Saturday, May 21st.

Subject: RE: All-Club Campout
Hi All,
All Club 2011 at Nushka is set. I just paid for August 5th and 6th.
Attached is something I had put together in the past regarding the location.
I can try to fix it up a little but this has the main stuff. We have the
basics of the Sat dinner going also but Duval is in a few details right now
so I need to get a couple more things in order before releasing a menu and
such. Basics for the weekend location is below. I will need lots of help
spreading the word. Please feel free to forward dates but realize the rest
is in mad state of flux.
Basics
Date: Aug 5 and 6
Location: Nushka Group Camp
I will make up something to send out but Nushka is where we had the All Club
last time the PHC hosted. It is a group camping area in Chippewa National
Forest and on Cass Lake. There is lake access with a sandy beach area, a
large open sided shelter, large fire pit, is tent and camper friendly, and
very private so no concerns about disturbing others. It is slightly
primitive past that. There are modern vault toilets but no running water.
Actually there is no water on site but do not worry we have camped here
before. We will bring water and down the way is Knutson Dam Campground
where we can refill at. Works great. We will release general menu for Sat
when we get more in order. I expect that the whole weekend of camping and
Sat dinner to be in the range of $25 per person +/-$5. Only thing there is
we may need to either allocate for firewood or ask everyone to bring a
bundle since we cannot bring our own from outside the area.
Cheers,
Tom
