Hey everyone.
I just wanted to remind you the next MHBA club meeting is April 2nd from noon - 3 pm at the Northern Brewer warehouse.
This is our third annual Home Brew Fest, which has been a highly popular meeting!
Please send me an email letting me know which beer/meads/ciders you plan on bringing with your recipe. (Last year, there was about 50 different selections to try----signing up ahead of time makes it easier to keep track. But you are still welcome to bring your brew the day of the event.) There will be Northern Brewer gift certificates for People's Choice beer and People's Choice mead/cider.
MHBA taster glasses will be given to current members. (You can update your membership at the meeting or online at mnbrewers.com.)
I am looking forward to it!

B.J. Haun and Kris England are starting a brewery in Roseville. Should be very interesting things coming from them. I wish them very good luck. -Gera

Congrats!

Please visit the freethegrapes.org to see how HR 1161 is threatening to
take away your rights to order beer and wine to be shipped to you from out of
state.
A quote from the website:
Simply put, this is a beer brawl; a disagreement between beer wholesalers
and beer producers. HR 1161 is a special interest power grab by wholesalers
to monopolize the market. Because of its broad scope, HR 1161 pits
consumers, winemakers, brewers, distillers and retailers against the supporters of
the bill: wholesalers.
I'm sorta surprised that this hasn't been mentioned here.
Anheuser-Busch has bought the remainder of Goose Island in Chicago:

I hope that it continues to run as a hands-off operation. AB has committed
to expanding the operation.

Hello!
I have a question for the MHBA:
My fiancée and I would really like to serve kegs of our own home-brew at our
wedding reception, but a lot of venues/caterers claim that their liquor
license doesn't allow it, or that they only allow beer from a facility that
was inspected by the health department. Does anyone have any experience
getting around this? Is it illegal to serve (not sell) home-brew at a
private event?
Thanks!
-Samantha
Hey Guys,
I just want to say thank you for the responses. They all have been really
helpful. So it looks like I am going to be taking an online course cause I
don't live in California and I don't really want to live in Chicago. Any
suggestions about online classes pro/cons? I just emailed the enrollment guy
at Siebels about what online class I should take.
Thanks again,
Ryan Dauss
