Members,
We have a few openings left on the brewing demo team for the Renaissance Festival this upcoming weekend. Ingredients have been taken care of, but if you want to brew an historic style, feel free to purchase the necessary ingredients. (cheap is good, as these brews often turn out undrinkable)
Please contact Eric Swann at mnbearhorn(a)yahoo.com, or 612-558-5138 if you're interested, and register at www.rennfestbeercup.com so we can have your name on the list to get in free.
Did I mention that you can get into the festival for free?
Thanks,Eric Swann
Just a reminder that there is still five days to sign up for Byggvir's Big Beer Cup!
Wer are still looking for help with either judging or stewarding at the event. The contest will be judged over Labor Day weekend (September 5th, 6th, and 7th) at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. For the day(s) you sign up, you get into the Fest for free with plenty of time to enjoy the day.
Also, there is still time to drop off beer, mead, and cider entries at Northern Brewer, Midwest, or Still H2O (in Stillwater). Check out our website for the styles accepted. There are medals and great prizes being given away.
Sign up and entries are open until Monday, August 31st. www.rennfestbeercup.com
I hope to see you there! Email me if you have any questions.

The MHBA September meeting will be on Saturday, September 19th at
Minneapolis Town Hall Brewery from noon to 3pm.
We've reserved the 'front room' and will also be getting a tour from one of
Town Hall's brewers.
Tasting of homebrew is permitted, but we must be 'discreet'. No kegs
allowed.
Bring your empty growlers and take home a full one!
There is a parking diagram on their website www.townhallbrewery.com. Just
click the car keys on the left side of their home page.

Ned, and have never taken the least pains to explain, the principles of
either establishing or maintaining a commonwealth; and they look on this
practical science as one which belongs not to men of learning and
wisdom, but to those who have made it their especial study. How, then,
can it be reasonable for such men to promise their assistance to the
State, when they shall be compelled to it by necessity, while they are
ignorant how to govern the republic when no necessity presses upon it,
which is a much more easy task? Indeed, though it were true that the
wise man loves not to thrust himself of his own accord into the
administration of public affairs, but that if circumstances oblige him
to it, then he does not refuse the office, yet I think that this science
of civil legislation should in no wise be neglected by the philosopher,
because all resources ought to be ready to his hand, which he knows not
how soon he may be called on to use. VII. I have spoken thus at large
for this reason, because in this work I have proposed to myself and
undertaken a discussion on the government of a state; and in order to
render it useful, I was bound, in the first place, to do away with this
pusillanimous hesitation to mingle in public affairs. If there be any,
therefore, who are too much influenced by the authority of the
philosophers, let them consider the subject for a moment, and be guided
by the opinions of those men whose authority and credit are greatest
among learned men; whom I look upon, though some of them have not
personally governed any state, as men who have nevertheless discharged a
kind of office in the republic, inasmuch as they have made many
investigations in

Hi all,
Say, I have a couple buddies here at work just getting into
brewing extract beers and they have a question on aging beer.
Steve is doing a bigger stout and wants to know which way is better,
to age his stout in the secondary for 4-6 months, then bottle condition
it for carbonation or go ahead and bottle, then let it sit for that same
extended time.
Can they join the club by just going to the website at
http://www.mnbrewers.com/mhbadues.php ?
Thanks and Cheers!
