New Glarus also has their Apple ale in 4-packs. I was happy to see that beer
return!
Woodman's also has Weyerbacher beers now from PA. I saw the Hops Infusion
IPA (an excellent beer), the Double Simcoe IPA and Blithering Idiot
Barleywine.
There's also an attractive looking 3 liter bottle of Stone Double Bastard on
the shelf. Cheers,tim

And also reputed to be on shelves is Mercy, from Ale Asylum, a monster Grand
Cru Belgian Ale. I tipped a couple last weekend and it is not to be missed.
Also.New Glarus Alt, a 9% beast, is available at fine purveyors of craft
beers in your neighborhood. It is getting rave reviews.

Hey all,
Happy Thanksgiving!
I made a trip to Madison yesterday and stopped at Woodmans westside store
for supplies and what did I see?
DREADNAUGHT!
They also had 2 other 3Floyd's beers. A milk stout and some sort of Lager.
They are seriously well stocked with excellent beers right now. Cheers, tim

2008 Holiday Potluck
Where: CSPS Hall - 383 Michigan St., St. Paul - Above the Glockenspiel
Restaurant - corner of Michigan St & West 7th
When: Friday, December 12th from 6:00 PM-10:00PM
New this Year: The club is providing a 5 gallon keg of La Rulles Erpe-Mere
Saison as a special treat for those attending.
Raffle for the Minnesota Food Shelves: We will be selling raffle tickets
for chances to win door prizes. All proceeds will go to the Minnesota food
shelves. The prizes include a free hour on the Pedal Pub and 2 bottles of
Surly Darkness.
What to bring:
Food: Bring a dish to share (the theme is dishes prepared with BEER),
copies of the recipe, serving utensils and extension cords if necessary. A
"People's Choice" award will be given for the best potluck dish with beer as
an ingredient. Plates, napkins, and silverware will be provided.
Beer to share: Bring any beer, mead or cider you wish to share. There will
be a "Peoples Choice" award given for the best beer, mead or cider.
Bottles, growlers or keg are welcome. The style of the month for December
is American Wheat or Rye, so don't forget to bring yours along to earn your
SOTM sticker for December. You can also bring any American IPAs from
November's SOTM. Don't forget a small tasting glass, some plastic glasses
will be available in case of emergency.
Beer to exchange: Bring up to 24 bottles to exchange with your fellow
homebrewers. Label each bottle with your name, email address, style and
beer name (if it has one). Everyone who participated draws a number and
then selects a bottle in order until they receive as many bottles as they
brought.
Family and Friends: This is a family friendly event, so bring your
significant other, kids, and any friends/family that have ever expressed an
interest in homebrewing or beer. Just to be clear you or your guest don't
have to be a club member to attend(a few people were wondering).
Since this is one of the most attended gatherings of the year, it's a great
opportunity to get out and meet your fellow homebrewers. If you have not
made it to a meeting , the Holiday potluck is a perfect chance to try some
great homebrew, delicious food and exchange homebrew with others.
If you have not renewed you membership or would like to sign-up for a club
membership, our member director should be on hand to collect your money and
hand out your new membership cards. Which for those who don't are good for
a 10% discount at the local homebrew shops(Northern Brewer, Midwest Supply,
Brew & Grow, & Still-H2O)
Additionally, the beers brewed during last month's "teach a friend to
homebrew" will be available for all to try.
If you have anything you are willing to donate to the raffle as prizes send
me a separate email to the address below.
If you have any questions or need directions send me an email at
<mailto:csmitty42@yahoo.com> csmitty42(a)yahoo.com.
Hope to see you there.

I've seem to have "lost" Jim Ellingson's email address. Perhaps he will see
this note, or someone else can provide me with the info?
Best regards to all in the club. Sorry I do not attend meetings anymore, but
hope to make it to the Christmas party, if possible. A wish for a safe and
peaceful Turkey day to everyone.

Friends and Neighbors of the Winery
Now this is a cool little place! Mary and Dave make the best hand crafted
cheeses in the entire northwoods from cow, sheep and goats milk. These
cheeses are lovingly hand crafted and aged in caves Dave built overlooking a
five acre pond on the homestead. This location serves to funnel the "toolie
fog" that gently seeps into the open air caves, bringing with it all of the
wet, spicy, sweet flavors of the northwoods...wild lilacs, evergreens,
mustard grass, violets, clovers, sweet milkweed and others.
The cheeses of Love Tree Farm have won many prestigious awards including:
"Best Young Sheep Cheese", "Best of show" at the American Cheese Society
Conference, "Best Aged Sheep Milk Cheese", and "Best Sheep Milk Cheese
Overall"
Take the time to check the web site and order these fines cheeses. They pair
well with Cyser, Sweet Mead, Black Mead and others. Perfect for holiday
entertaining or very unique gifts. These cheeses would also pair well with
White Winter Bracketts, a porter or stout for the beer aficionado on your
Christmas list.

The Minnesota Home Brewers Association is holding a board meeting at the
Lyndale Avenue Bulldog at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20. All members
are invited to attend. (Note, please, that there will be no drinking
during the actual meeting.) If you have ideas for the club or any
issues you want to put on the table and you can't make it to the board
meeting, send an e-mail to the secretary/treasurer at:
Paul_Dienhart(a)cargill.com
We will publish a report on the meeting in the December issue of the
club's newsletter, The Boiler.
Thanks, and don't forget the big potluck Christmas party at the Czech
Hall above the Glockenspiel starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.
It's always a great time, and the free food and beer at this party alone
easily cover the cost of membership. Laminated 2009 cards will be
available at the Christmas party for those who want to rejoin or who
already have paid through 2009.
