Hey everyone.
I have been working with Ken Liss at Premier Cheese Market to set up this event. We are all familiar with cheese being paired with wine, but what about beer?
Event: Beer and Cheese Paring
Date: Sunday, November 18 from 5-7 pm
Location: Premier Cheese Market
5013 France Ave SMinneapolis, MN 55410
Cost: $15
Ken is selecting cheeses to be paired with beers donated by Summit. Premier Cheese Market was voted by the City Pages as having the best selection of cheese in the Twin Cities, so I am sure that are going to be some tasty treats.
Space is limited to 25 participants.
If you are interested, send a check made out to "Premier Cheese Market" to Gera Exire LaTour at 3757 Dupont Avenue N., Minneapolis, MN 55412
I will also be at Barley John's on Saturday.

In honor of the American Homebrewers Associations national
Teach-A-Friend-To-Homebrew Day, the MN Homebrewers Association will put on
its fourth annual demonstration event at Barley Johns Brewpub. Details are
below.
We will brew three extract batches, beginning one each at 10:30, 11:30, and
12:30. I need volunteers who will walk the crowd of interested newbies
through the process, highlighting each step and perhaps encouraging the
crowd to help, e.g., they could tie a bag of hops and throw it in the
kettle. All ingredients will be provided by the club. You just show up,
show the crowd how easy it is to homebrew, then take home 5 gallons of wort
in your sanitized carboy. Im still putting together the experiment, but it
will involve brewing three identical batches with one variable. In years
past weve had identical recipes with different yeasts and different lengths
of boil for the extract. Ill be bringing propane, a burner, and a kettle,
but one extra setup would be appreciated!
Thanks!
John

Subject: Yeast suggestion?
What yeast strain do you suggest for a double-boch?
What lager fermentation characteristics are desirable and undesirable?
Thanks!

They not only mashed in a pumpkin, but fermented in one as well.
There is no informaiton as to how the finished product tasted. I'm very
curious.

This is the time of year that many brewers turn to pumpkin beers: Some just add
pumpkin pie spices, others add canned pumpkin or baked pumkin pieces when brewing.
Some brewers have even fermented their beers inside of pumpkins...
The guy in the pictures linked above took it one step further: He used a pumpkin
as a mash tun (where the grains are soaked to draw out fermentable sugars).
Cool!

The price this year will be around $4.00 per gallon depending on the
quantity we order. The regular price in the shop at the orchard is $5.00.
If you are interested in participating in the cider buy email me your order
