Here is the current plan, always subject to changes. This is all the
month the style would be the style for the meeting. Recipes will show
up in the newsletter with sufficient time to get the brew ready for the
meeting. Note however that the Sour Ale recipe for the 12/2007 meeting
was printed in the October 2006 Boiler. The ones listed with CoC are
driven by the AHA Club-only-Competition schedule.
January 2007 CoC Session Beers(OG < 1.045)
February 2007 American Amber Ale
March 2007 CoC Scottish Ales
April 2007 Belgian Dubbel
May 2007 CoC Extract Beers
June 2007 Lite/Standard American Lagers
July 2007 Northern English Brown
August 2007 CoC Strong Ale (BJCP 19)
September 2007 CoC Bock (BJCP 5) & Berliner Weisse
October 2007 American Brown
November 2007 CoC Pilsner
December 2007 Sour Ales

2006 Holiday Potluck
Where: CSPS Hall - 350 Michigan St., St. Paul - Above the Glockenspiel
Restaurant
When: Friday, December 8th from 6:00 PM-10:00PM
What to bring:
Food: Bring a dish to share (the theme is dishes prepared with BEER),
copies of the recipe, serving utensils and extension cords if necessary. A
"People's Choice" award will be given for the best potluck dish.
Beer to share: Bring any beer, mead or cider you wish to share. There will
be a "Peoples Choice" award given for the best beer. Bottles, growlers or
keg are welcome. The style of the month for December is Dusseldorf Altbier,
so don't forget to bring yours along to earn your SOTM sticker for December.
You can also bring any light hybrid beers from the previous SOTM.
Beer to exchange: Bring up to 24 bottles to exchange with your fellow
homebrewers. Label each bottle with your name, email address, style and
beer name (if it has one).
Family and Friends: This is a family friendly event, so bring your
significant other, kids, and any friends/family that have ever expressed any
interest in homebrewing.
Since this is one of the most attended gatherings of the year, it's a great
opportunity to get out and meet your fellow homebrewers. If you have not
made it to a meeting , the Holiday potluck is a perfect chance to try some
great homebrew, delicious food and exchange homebrew with others.
Additionally, the beers brewed during last month's "teach a friend to
homebrew" will be available for all to try.
If you have any questions or need directions send me an email at
csmitty42(a)yahoo.com.
Results from MUGZ Land of Muddy Waters competition have been added. You
can see the standings over at: http://sphbc.org
The final competition in the 2006 circuit is coming up fast. Deadline is
Saturday 12/2/06.
Go here:
http://www.stlbrews.org/competition/hhhc/rules.asp
for more info on the St. Louis Brews Happy Holidays Homebrew Competition.
Have you ever wanted to enter a contest but all your beer is sitting in a
keg and not a bottle? Are you curious if your latest creation is medal
worthy? Well, you won't have to wait any longer. With the recent opening
of the MHBA club library comes a brand new counter pressure filler. In
order to put this new treasure to use I will be hosting a bottle filling
event at my home just prior the club sponsored Upper Mississippi Mashout
competition in January. We will provide expert knowledge on the proper
filling techniques along with knowledgeable feed back from experienced BJCP
judges for style placement of your homebrew for optimal results.
Keep this in mind as you plan you next brewing sessions and maybe save the
last bit of that current brew in your fridge. All you will need are clean
empty bottles and caps and the next potential best of show beer, mead, or
cider. There will be enough sanitizer and cappers available. Further
details will follow in the club news letter along with email reminders as
the date approaches. If you are interested in participating or volunteering
you expertise you can email me at csmitty42(a)yahoo.com.
Thanks
Chris Smith

Just a quick update on Winterfest tickets...tickets are $42.50 and will be
available at noon on Dec 1 here:
http://www.ticketworks.com/event.php?eventnumber=MCB07WINTER
We have set a limit of 4 tickets/consumer this year, so plan accordingly.
If you're new to the list, this event sold out in 4 minutes last year.
We expect much of the same this year.
Happy Thanksgiving,
David Berg
I'm planning to help brew 4 batches of beer on December 13th as a 'team
building' day for work.
Each batch will be 10 gallons.
Light wheat/Belgian something
Hoppy American pale ale
Amber/Red ale
American Brown Ale
Anyone have some recipe ideas? No mini mashes but will plan to steep
colored malts (crystal, chocolate, black) as appropriate.
Everyone put their recipe hats on and let me know. Liquid yeast is
preferred but if someone has a favorite dry yeast I'd like to hear it.
If possible, I'd like to get the ingredients (and costs) known by
Friday. If I'm going shopping on Black Friday, it might as well be at
Northern Brewer.
Thanks for everyones help.

Rick-
Check out the recipes at http://beer.tzo.com/beer/ - click on the RECIPES
button. You can look up recipes by style, and look for the ones that are
extract.
You can also go to BEERTOOLS.COM, and click on the style and the drop-down
that says EXTRACT ONLY.

A good place to look for recipes, with MANY extract recipes included,
is the AHA's recipe library, at
