Roger,
Hope you can make it over to our competition.
A Call for Judges and Stewards
The Land of the Muddy Waters 11th Annual Homebrew Competition will be
held this year the 19th of November at the Bierstube in Moline, IL. The
sponsoring club, Mississippi Unquenchable Grail Zymurgists or MUGZ is
putting the call out for judges and stewards to participate in this
competition. The judging will start around 9:00 AM. There will be a
morning and afternoon flight with lunch provided to those who
participate. After the competition there will be a bus provided for a
pub crawl to some of the local brewpubs and drinking establishments.
Last years' competition saw 150 entries and we look to break that count
this year. We have moved the competition to a facility better equipped
as a judging environment this year with better lighting and more room.
There will be a limited number of Beds for Brewers available for those
wishing to stay in town overnight. Sign up soon and help the MUGZ Club
make this the best Land of the Muddy Waters Competition yet. For more
information email me:

Or visit the MUGZ website at www.mugz.org. Look under the Competition
heading, click on LOTMW then 2005
We are looking forward to seeing you all at the 11th Annual LOTMW 2005
I've missed some posts but it appears some of us are getting to be beer
SNOBS. Now on the beer bus to "Ouisconsin" we ran across some beer that
truly was bad. The poor quality of a certain extract based brewpub, has
become "Legendary".

get an error. Or, maybe I'm getting mba messages in the new invisible email

your formatting set to the invisible reply mode so that I won't know enough

A couple of items about Trappist beers from a newsletter. Note that
there are again seven (yep 7) Trappist breweries in the world.

> LA TRAPPE REGAINS TRAPPIST SANCTION
> Now there are seven "sanctioned" Trappist beers. The International Trappist
> Association has announced it will allow La Trappe in the Netherlands to again
> use the official Trappist logo on its beers. In 1999, the I.T.A. withdrew its
> logo for all the La Trappe beers after the agreement concluded by
> Koningshoeven Abbey with Bavaria B.V. The Association considered the
> situation so confused that it could not guarantee the authentic provenance of
> beers bearing the name of "La Trappe." Consequently, Koningshoeven Abbey had
> ceased to use the logo. To satisfy the logo criteria, Koningshoeven Abbey
> recently revised its cooperation agreement with Koningshoeven Brewery (a
> subsidiary of Bavaria B.V.). In the new agreement, the position of the monks
> resulted in the Trappist provenance of "La Trappe" beers being strengthened
> and guaranteed.
