It's time for another exciting game of guess which day Winterfest falls on
next year.
If you guessed Jan 17, 2004 you are correct. I believe we have corrected
as many scheduling conflicts as we could (NHL All Star Game, Bockfest at
Schell's and The Food and Wine Show).
Tickets go on sale next week at Hops (Eden Prairie), Great Waters (St Paul)
or Minneapolis Town Hall. Tickets are only available in advance on a
cash-only basis (no checks or credit cards)
This event sells out every year so buy your tickets next week or you'll be
out of luck.
Cheers!

Sure, let's get together! A taste of the barrel contents would be fun. So would figuring out what to do if the present beer specific gravity is "too high"....
Cheers and Merry Christmas to all!
Steve Weiland
It's cruel to bring this up during one of the most frantic weeks of the
>year, but would the group like to convene sometime in Jan-Feb to monitor
>the barrel? I would guess this would require a taste, a discussion of
>any possible adjustments, topping off the barrel if necessary and
>possibly some social drinking. Or, we could just leave it be.
>
>I haven't looked in the barrel since attaching the airlock the same
>weekend we filled it. There has been zero airlock activity (which is
>probably good news concerning infection, but maybe bad news about the
>FG).
>
>When we get the January cold snap, I'm going to try cranking open the
>shop window to drop the temperature. The barrel experts tell me that
>temperature variation moves the beer in and out of the wood, creating
>finer flavors.
>
>Merry Christmas to all! Take some time to sit by a fire and sip a fine
>Old Ale, barleywine, Scotch ale, mead -- or if you're really desperate,
>a lambic.
