For the MCBG, it was to show people that there are quite a few Minnesota breweries that are making beer that can compete with any beer in the country. I say this with the utmost sincerety. I've lived in Arizona, Oregon, and California and I can tell you we *can* compete. Most places (like the Pacific NW) just have been at it longer than we have. The goal for the DTC is to promote downtown Minneapolis through events. We put 700 people in downtown at 7PM on a Saturday night, so I think that goal was achieved. Finally, will we do it again? I'd say yes, but we'll have to see how the DTC feels. I think it will grow at least two-fold next year. But we need the support of the people of Minnesota to insure the event can continue. It's a lot of work to put on the festival just to break even (or less). The organizers from MCBG have full-time jobs. Paul Norton is the National Director of Sales for Malt-O-Meal. I am trying to keep my brewery running while juggling all the details required to pull off the event. But, I guess I'd do it again, and I'm sure Paul would say the same. Well, that is probably a longer answer that you wanted or needed, but there you have it. Support your local breweries! Paddy Pale/Centennial hops

I'm pretty sure Mike was using Centennial hops in Paddy Pale. Possibly also throwing in some Cascade. You may want to try experimenting with Centennial as the 2001 Cascade crop was severely damaged by a 'freak' hail storm back in June or July. Though I can't recall the exact acreage it was in the thousands and one of my hop purveyors considered the loss 'significant'.
