Sunday Sales - Call your legislators now! Would you like to be able to buy beer, wine or spirits on a Sunday just like you can in almost every other state? We have been working with Minnesota Beer Activists and Senator Roger Reinert to try and remove this age old restriction.
We are referring to it as "The Business Freedom act of 2013," but the official bill number is SF 0225 There is a great deal of opposition. Almost every liquor store in MN does not want to be open on Sunday. We do! We know the majority of people in Minnesota want the convenience of shopping for alcohol on a Sunday. The people want this. It's the liquor industry itself who opposes this. We here at The Four Firkins are listening to you. We are trying to make this happen but we need your help. Make sure you contact the MN legislators(the top two on the list), not the U.S. Legislators (the bottom three on the list). Please do this now! Time is of utmost importance on this issue and next week may be too late. Calling is the most effective, and shows them you are serious, but email and writing snail mail works, too. (Snail mail may be too slow for this.) Thank you! If you would like to learn more about the issue, follow this link. Jason Alvey Thanks for your support, and please remember to call your legislator today. Call the top two people on the link after you enter your ZIP code and tell them you SUPPORT Sunday sales! Beer Pontiff t-shirt!
We are very proud to humbly announce the first in our new line of limited edition t-shirt design at the Firkins... The Beer Pontiff! Even heathens can be comforted in the loving embrace of the Most Holy Alvey because we are not here on Earth to be judged... we are here to drink beer, and all are welcome within the presence of the Abbey Register. We are only doing one run of these, and when they're gone... well, they'll make an appearance again one day, but it will be sealed up like Walt's Vault. The shirts come in sizes Small-XL and cost $18.99 ea. If you're an out of town fan and want to get one, you can now purchase at our online store. Here is a special behind the scenes look at the process that Stephen Nixon, the designer, went through in creating the print. |

Black Helicopter is back!
We all have our tinfoil hats on today because we heard the Black Helicopters had invaded. Yes, Flat Earth's Black Helicopter has landed, and it is loaded with fresh Dunn Brother's coffee to give you extra energy to fight off greys or men in black. This roasty stout weighs in at 5% so it's OK to have a couple. In fact, I hear that if you have more than two, it gives you special powers of telekinesis and MIND BULLETS to fend off the lizard people who control all of us. |

Valentine Pairings!

This Saturday, February 9th from 5:30 to 7:00 (while supplies last) we will be pairing beer with an assortment of cheeses and chocolates. Want to impress your smoochie-poo? You can even take all the credit for it when you show up at their place with the perfect pairings. Here is a link to our events page with the details. If you are not into that level of subterfuge, you can always make this Saturday a date night. Start the evening right with a stop at the Firkins with your main squeeze and sample the best of what we have to offer. As always, tastings are COMPLETELY FREE! Why does beer work so well with cheese and chocolate when wine falls flat? The pun was intended because carbonation is the key. Carbonation in beer acts like a brush, scrubbing away the fat that coats your palate and dulls your tastebuds. With beer, every bite is fresh and you get a new perspective with every sip. We'll see you Saturday! |

Ian's Big Beers Class Feb. 19th.
| Not this kind of big beer. |
| Coming off of the heels of the highly successful "Inspired Beers of Belgium and America" class, our very own Ian Finch will be presenting "Liquid Bread: the Sustaining Beers of Winter." This time around Ian will focus on beer with higher ABV's. Not only will this be a class on the history of the beers, but it will also feature food pairings with these beers and how their flavor profiles developed. Class will be held February 19th from 7:30pm to 8:30pm. The last class sold out within a day of its announcement, and we expect this one will be no different! You can buy your tickets in store, over the phone at 952-938-2847, or online! Tickets are limited to 25 attendees, at $10 ea...they will sell out, so get yours now.

612 Kegs now available! The first time I heard about 612 (pronounced six-un-deux or six-one-two) think I was in the hospital waiting for my second daughter to be born. I wondered what their beers would taste like and if they would live up to the legacy of the area code. The time has come! Delivered fresh from the brewery today, we have 1/6 barrels (around 5 gallons) of Bitter Cold IPA, Rated R Rye IPA, and Six Pale Ale! We do not have single serve product yet, but this is an opportunity to be one of the first to get your hands on the newest brewery in the Twin Cities. The kegs will be available for purchase around 4pm today, no sooner, sorry! |
A thought: forcing us to be closed 52 days out of the year is like the government saying you can't live in your house for all of January and the first three weeks of February, but you still have to pay your mortgage all year. |
